Keheley's 2nd Annual International Night

International Night + Keheley = Fun-filled Success!

March 12, 2015, Nes Gondek, Melissa Carlsen, Cindy Goolsby, Rupe Chatha, Renee Theriot and Heidi Elias did an amazing job organizing Keheley's 2nd Annual International Night. The Cafeteria, Gym and Media Center were packed with well over 300 attendees. This special occasion showcased Keheley's diversity, with 28 different countries and 2 states represented. Keheley families shared their delicious food, beautiful clothing, crafts, games, music and heritage with students, families, teachers and friends. Bulgarian Dancers, a Clogging troupe, and Taekwondo demonstrations entertained everyone throughout the evening.

Mr. Ron named as a CCSD All Star!

Mrs. Jackson recommended Ron Wright because he is always one step ahead of the game and quick on the call when needed. He will be recognized at the Leadership and Learning meeting on Thursday, March 19, 2015.

Each month the Cobb County School District recognizes five distinct All-Stars, one from each school district Area. These All-Stars exemplify the district motto "One Team, One Goal, Student Success" by going above and beyond their regular duties to ensure that students, staff and stakeholders receive the best service possible.

Congratulations, Mr. Ron!!! You are always an All Star to us! Thanks for all you do.

Jump Rope for Heart raises over $10,000 for the American Heart Association

Jump Rope for Heart has become a really fun event that our students look forward to every year. Last year our students raised $6,309.80 for the American Heart Association. This year's goal was $6,000, and we have already collected $10,772.00!!! A special congratulations goes to Ms. Handley's second grade class for raising the most money. Mikey Peeler, one of Ms. Handley's students, raised $1,005.00! Way to go Mikey! Other high fundraising classes include: Ms. Thurman's Kindergarten class, Ms. Millard's 1st grade class, Ms. Harris's Kindergarten class, Ms. Denny's Kindergarten class, and Ms. Mitchell's 4th grade class. A very special thank you goes out to Kristine Peeler for helping Ms. Lawson by staying by her side to count the money and make sure the right information was turned into the American Heart Association.

We are so proud of our students for participating in this event, and making a difference in the lives of other people in our community. Way to go Keheley!!!

March is Walking Wellness Month - Let's Move

March is Keheley's Walking Wellness Month. Students, Families, Faculty and the community join together and focus on physical fitness. We want to help everyone create and maintain a healthy active lifestyle. Parents, we would like for you to join in and encourage your child to exercise. Let's make this a FUN and meaningful experience by playing games, or discussing the events of the day as you all take a walk. Let's set a goal for 10,000 steps a day!

Plan to walk with your child three or more times a week. You or your child should write a note stating your family mileage and turn it into the child's classroom on a weekly basis. Any mileage walked or ran by a Keheley student, their family members, or friends that walk with you counts. Pregnant women and senior citizens over 62 receive double credit. Mature citizens over 70 receive triple credit. Pets are excluded. We will recognize the grade level mileage winners on March 31, 2015 at the Straw Walk.

Spring Book Fair 2015

Keheley's Spring Book Fair 2015 was a success!!! You may be thinking, how is that possible with 3 snow days? It was possible with your support. Our students love books and love reading! They get so excited to come shop for something new and exciting to read. So, no we may not have sold as many books as we have in the past, however we were on track to do better than we have ever done before. Thank you for you support! Without you, we wouldn't be able to increase and update our library for your students.

Something new... We will be hosting an extra book fair this year!

Mark your calendars: May 5,6 & 7, 2015

Our Buy One, Get One Free Book Fair is a reading event that brings to school the books kids want to read. It’s a wonderful selection of engaging and affordable books for every reading level. Arts Day at Keheley

"This world is but a canvas to our imagination." - Henry David Thoreau

On Friday, March 20, 2015, Keheley was filled from one end of the school to the other with imagination and creativity. Students spent the day viewing, hearing, creating and learning about many various forms of art. Everything from watching a dancer from India, to determining different musical sounds, learning about pottery, making a wooden pendant and so much more. Experiencing art in so many various forms inspired everyone's imagination.

More exciting events to come...

March 23-30 Families are welcome to join the fun and walk with their students during their physical education class.

Tuesday, 3/31 Straw Walk (Rain date; 4/2/15) Parents, siblings, grandparents relatives, friends, etc. are welcome and encouraged to come during the scheduled time and spend 30 minutes earning straws (mileage) for their child's class. The scheduled time is the same as their P.E. time. The class in each grade level that accumulates the most miles for that day wins the prestige Golden Shoe Trophy. Let the marching begin!
