D11 Insights
March 2022
Mission Matters
Over the past two weeks, I’ve filled my time visiting D11 schools, talking to students and staff, and learning your needs as we commit to finishing this school year strong! The Board of Education is at work determining the next steps in the permanent superintendent search, and I’m here to ensure the leadership stability needed to align with the Board’s work.
It is my goal to visit all D11 schools over the next few weeks. I look forward to meeting you if we get the chance! In the meantime, thank you for your partnership and support for D11 students and employees and I hope you all have a relaxing spring break.
Sincerely,
Nick Gledich,
Acting/Interim Superintendent
D11 Board of Education Superintendent Search Update
Among the D11 Board of Education's highest priorities is a restoration of trust through transparent communications. We're pleased to inform you of the latest developments in the search for a new D11 Superintendent.
At the public Special Board Meeting on March 16, the District 11 Board of Education voted unanimously to proceed with a contract agreement with McPherson & Jacobson (M&J), LLC, a leading national superintendent search firm. With more than 30 years of experience and the stamp of approval from the Colorado Association of School Boards, M&J has solid connections to our Colorado Springs community, thanks to the firm's Colorado consultants, Dr. Norm Ridder and Dr. Walt Cooper. Both consultants were local superintendents, Dr. Ridder in D11 for five years and Dr. Cooper in Cheyenne Mountain D12. Together, they understand the values and unique needs of our diverse community.
According to the approved contract, M&J will coordinate, facilitate, and gather all stakeholder input related to the search through in-person meetings and online surveys. Please stay tuned for future communications on how you may become involved in this important process. The Board hopes that we conclude this search by June 15, 2022.
The Board and M&J started Phase 1 of the superintendent search at the March 18th work session. Both the Board and M&J are committed to conducting a systematic, comprehensive, and transparent search that results in the hiring of the most qualified superintendent for our district.
We are grateful for your support as we continue to make our district a special place in which to thrive.
With sincere gratitude,
Colorado Springs School District 11 Board of Education
