Meet Miss Baccam
In 2019-2020, I lived in Vientiane, Laos, and was a Fulbright English Teaching Assistant at Vientiane Secondary School. During my time there, I taught six sections of high school English to Lao students. I was also the leader of a choir at Vientiane Secondary School and a member of the Vientiane International Choir. Laos is important to my family because my grandparents and parents immigrated from Laos to the US in 1975. I loved learning more about my Tai Dam culture and participating in cultural exchange with all kinds of people.
In my free time, I enjoy running, working out, tennis, video games, learning languages, and playing/singing in ensembles. I can speak, read, and write English, German, Lao, Tai Dam, and Korean at varying degrees. Right now, I am training for a half marathon and enjoying the summer outside. I am so excited to be joining the Hanawalt team for my first year as a teacher in the USA!

Volunteers Needed: Annual Block Party
Make plans to help out on Friday, September 17 for our Annual Hanawalt Community Block Party from 5:30 to 7:30 pm at the school. Volunteer shifts are just half an hour so you still have time to enjoy this fun and free back to school celebration event! We'll have games, activities, and food for the whole family. Sign up today.
Get Plants and Support the School
This year, we'll be offering a variety of fundraising opportunities to allow all Hanawalt families to engage and support the school in ways that make sense and are accessible. Our first fundraiser for 2021-2022 is this Fall Planting Event! Order your bulbs and plants for the Fall through us and the school gets money toward field trips, community events, school projects, and supporting Hanawalt families in need. Feel free to share with friends and family who might also be interested in ordering! Learn more.
Yard Signs and Window Decals For Sale!
Visit hanawaltcommunity.org to order “Home of a Hanawalt Hawk” yard signs and window decals. We’ll be selling them at the Block Party, but have limited supply, so if you order in advance you’ll be sure to get one. You can pick up that night or we can deliver.
Other Ways to Support Hanawalt
