Obstacle to Overcome

In Theodore's earlier years of his career he struggled greatly with trying to get his books published. There was a character vs society conflict at age 18. Geisel left home for Dartmouth College, where he became the editor in chief of its humor magazine, Jack-O-Lantern. When Giesel and his friends were caught drinking in his dorm room one night, in violation of Prohibition law, he was kicked of the magazine staff, but continued to contribute to it using the fake name "Seuss." After Seuss' drinking incident, it was very hard to get his books published and find someone that would help him out. Although this was a huge obstacle for Seuss, he never stopped trying to write more and more and find someone that would publish. Seuss never gave up.

Theme of Life

Seuss has always been very positive and tried to find the best in things. He expressed this a lot in his books. He never gave up and believed in himself the best he could. A famous Dr. Seuss quote is, "Today you are you! That is truer than true! There is no one alive that's you-er than you!"
