EGG HARBOR TOWNSHIP SCHOOL DISTRICT
Central Office Communications: Week of February 7, 2021
OUR CURRENT REALITY
Hello Egg Harbor Township School Community:
We were over the moon with excitement as we welcomed our Preschool students to our school district! This is a time to celebrate a new chapter in the history books ! The Egg Harbor Township School District has opened its doors for the first time to Preschool aged children to provide a full time preschool program for all families that will provide students with the foundational educational skills to be successful in their academic endeavors here in our school district. #EHTPride at its best!
I extend my sincerest gratitude to the New Jersey Department of Education for awarding us the grant and recognizing the need for early childhood education here in Egg Harbor Township; the Egg Harbor Township Board of Education for supporting our dream and assisting us with the quick implementation; my administrative team- particularly Ms Chandra Anaya, Business Administrator and Mr. Raymond Dorso, Director of Special Education /Interim PreSchool Director who spent endless hours writing the grant; and all of the teachers, staff, administration, bus drivers, and food servers involved the Preschool Program who made it come all come alive when they welcomed our new students with huge smiles and opened arms ! In between the snowflakes, we added to our mission of Embrace, Engage and Educate!
We continuously meet to explore a sense of normalcy for all. Please know that we are monitoring local and state COVID-19 data, CDC recommendations, NJDOE RBS guidance, and Executive Orders as we are feverishly working on plans to get us back to ‘normal’ as soon as it is deemed safe to do so.
I remind students and staff that it is very important to adhere to the district’s health and safety guidelines and not enter a school building when feeling ill, fill out daily health forms, practice social distancing, wear a mask, and practice good hygiene by frequently washing hands, using sanitizer, and keeping hands away from the face. I kindly ask parents, teachers, and staff to review these necessary protocols with their child to ensure we are providing a safe environment for all. This pandemic has caused uneasiness and concern, each and everyone of us needs to adhere to following proper protocol and expectations both inside and outside of the school buildings.
I know folks still have questions about our current reality related to the Road Back to School Plan pertinent to our school district. Please use this link to learn more.
We are #EHTStrong ! #EHTReady! #EHTPride

Even though Monday is virtual day for most of our students, some are scheduled for in-person instruction.
Due to the anticipated freezing temperatures, icy road conditions, and ultimately for the safety of all students, staff and families-- the Egg Harbor Township School District will be all virtual tomorrow, Monday February 8th. The school buildings will be closed.
Food distribution and delivery is rescheduled for Tuesday February 9th - at the same locations. There will be no food distribution for tomorrow. Miller School Math Book distribution is cancelled for Monday. Please see the Miller webpage for further information. TALONS and all practices are cancelled. Stay warm and safe.

CLIMATE & CULTURE
The culture of our schools includes our school improvement efforts to increase student achievement for ALL students. Where with Every Hand Together, Every child, Everyday is provided a relevant learning experience. Through professional development opportunities we are building an effective learning culture where students are provided a safe learning environment. Our teachers collaborate in professional learning communities to review student progress in order to provide ALL students with the opportunity to learn at high levels. We have a district -wide initiative that includes individualized interventions through the RTI process to assist ALL students with learning. We know that in order to successfully educate each student, we must be cognizant of each student’s individual learning needs. This can only be accomplished if we work together to eliminate any predictability of achievement disparities by race, ethnicity, gender, language, disability, and/or economics. All faculty and staff participated in equity training during our professional learning days. The high school multicultural club will be preparing to join the district equity committee to participate in collaborative discussions and event planning. Together, we can achieve more!
