NO SCHOOL ON MONDAY, JANUARY 25

Message from the Principal

Hello Prairie Friends & Families,

Valentine’s Day is just around the corner and is always a special time for our students. I know you may have received multiple communications about this through teachers with some conflicting messages for celebrations this year. I apologize for that. We collaborated today to establish common procedures for Valentine’s Day for this year. We are writing this as the final message on our school community’s Valentine’s Day plans:

  • Students may bring valentines for their classmates. Please make sure that Valentine’s Day cards are sent to school with your student by Thursday, February 4th.

  • If candy or a treat is included, it must be store-bought, individually wrapped, and not contain nuts.

  • Valentine’s Day cards will be passed out in the classroom and sent home. Families will then be able to decide whether or not they feel comfortable with their child(ren) consuming any candy and/or treats that are sent to school along with the cards.

We appreciate your support during this most unusual year.

Have a great, long weekend!

We are Team Prairie!

We are stronger together!

Carly Solberg

Principal

Upcoming Dates

1/25: NO SCHOOL

2/1: PTA Culver's Night

School Supplies

As we enter the second half of the school year, we are finding the need to replenish some classroom supplies for the student bins. We are asking each student to bring in another box of crayons, box of markers, and 2 glue sticks. Please label and return to school with your child so they can be added to their plastic bin of supplies. If you are willing to donate any extra supplies, we will be happy to accept those. Thank you so much for your support.

School Messenger - Opt in for Text Messages

The School Messenger system we use to communicate messages to you has an option for text messages. In order to receive these messages, please text to 67587. You will receive a message back asking you to opt in to receive these.

This is helpful for us in the event of notifying parents of a classroom quarantine or school emergency.

If you have any questions, please feel free to contact the school office.

Early Pick Up for Students

If you need to pick up your student early for any reason or for appointments during the day, please come in to the lobby and buzz the office. We will call your child down at that point and sign them out from the office. It is helpful to email the teacher and Mrs. Anderson of expected times so we can try to have them ready to leave.

Dropping off Supplies

We have a new procedure in place if you need to drop off student materials during the day (lunch, homework, jackets, iPads, etc). The outside door to the lobby of the school is open. There are "drop off tickets" on the table inside the door. Please complete your child's name, grade/teacher, and the item being delivered with any special instructions. We will deliver it to the classroom just as soon as we can. Thank you for your support.

Annual Online Registration

Please make sure to complete your Annual Online Registration in your Infinite Campus Parent Portal. If you need your login and password information, please feel free to contact Mrs. Anderson at vanderso@waukesha.k12.wi.us.
