A Message from Principal Nixon--Week of September 16, 2019
Dear Northwoods Families,
We had a wonderful turnout on Saturday for the family Picnic and Fun Run!! I would like to send a BIG thank you to all of our hard-working PTA board members and parent volunteers that helped plan and coordinate the activities! It was evident from the laughter and smiles that our students had a wonderful time. Thank you for your participation and shared commitment to the Northwoods community!!
Upcoming Events and Important Information
It's hard to believe, but we are almost half way through the first quarter of the 2019-2020 school year. Interim reports will be sent home on Friday, September 27th. Please check your child's Friday Folder for those reports. Kindergarten parents, your child will not receive interim reports for the first quarter.
Walk-to-School Day
Please join us for Walk to School Day on Wednesday, October 2nd. Families that wish to participate should plan on meeting at the Godbold Park basketball courts at 8:15. See the flyer below for more information.
Fall Picture Day
Fall pictures (individual student portraits) will take place on Tuesday, October 8th. Be on the lookout for order packets. Your child's teacher will communicate the exact time that his/her class will sit for pictures as we move closer to the date. Make-up day for fall portraits will be on Wednesday, November 6th.
Election Day--Tuesday, October 8th
Northwoods Elementary as been identified as a polling site for this year's elections, which will take place on Tuesday, October 8th. On election day, the cafeteria will be utilized as the voting site on our campus. We also ask that parents and visitors please refrain from parking in the parking lot in front of the main office so that we have sufficient space for voter parking.
Rest assured that we are taking every precaution to ensure that our students remain safe and separated from voters throughout the day. We have asked for additional election personnel to help monitor the front doors of the school as well as the cafeteria space to ensure that voters enter and exit the building promptly. We are also modifying how students will purchase breakfast and lunch on election day.
Medications
Parents--please DO NOT send medications with your child to school! We have seen several instances over the last couple of weeks in which inhalers, epipens, benadryl, and even antibiotics have been sent to school with a child. Please know that we are not allowed to accept or administer any type of medication (even cough drops) to your child without the proper forms from a physician. If your child requires medication, please call the front office to ensure that you have all the required documents. All medications must be dropped off by a parent/guardian.
