5th Grade Service Project

For their winter party, 5th grade classes made tie blankets. The fleece was funded by a grant from the Shannon Park Site Council, and a total of 28 blankets were created. The blankets will be donated to The Philomena House, a maternity home for homeless, pregnant women, and FOCUS, who serves anyone in need in the St. Paul area. Some of the blankets will also go to the Dakota Woodlands homeless shelter in Eagan, and will be given to a representative from there when she comes to speak to our Kindness Council this month.

We have had so much fun exploring the natural learning spaces we have here at Shannon Park. We learned how to make bricks out of snow, how to use snow saws, how to create stick forts, how to identify animals by the scat they leave behind, and so much more. The natural spaces around Shannon Park are so fun to explore and we have expanded our classroom to use more of the outdoors. There has certainly been enough snow for us to explore!
