National Poetry Day!
On Thursday 8th October, students and staff at DKA celebrated National Poetry Day in style! The theme for this year was 'Light'. Some students brought in their favourite poems to share and some even wrote their own poems. A competition was held by the school library to write a poem about science or light (or both!)
Two diligent and brave students read out poems during morning line up and this almost moved some members of staff to tears; such is the power of poetry!
Mr Nixon, the school librarian, also gave a special performance of a number of poems during year 7 lunch time. Part of the performance is below!
The winners of this competition were:
Overall Winner - Ali Abdul 7.5 for Science is Like Writing
Force by Zehab Kashif 7.5
Bright Light by Falaq Khan & Dominika Kovacova 8cam2
Science Poem by Junaynah Hussain 7.4
Earth Poem by Hayyan Rashid 7.6
The Wonderful World of Biology by Aleeza Riaz 8ox3
Well done to all the students who participated in the competition!

Making a difference!
One of our students helping to build a school in a small village in India, who won a fantastic opportunity through a WE event, which took place in London on the 5th March 2015. She highly recommends that students should apply to go onto the WE program, so they can help other students like themselves in developing countries.
