Principal's Message
Dear SFX Family,
It is so good to be back! While things are not perfect in the building yet, we are working each day with the insurance company and various teams to get the job done.
As you know, we were unable to have school for 12 days due to Hurricane Ida. Thankfully, one of those days was Labor Day, and the Archdiocese of New Orleans has canceled the Day of Formation in November so that we can reclaim it as an instructional day. We also have two days built into every school year in case of hurricanes or other emergencies. Therefore, we have eight (8) days to make up since a waiver has not been granted by the state. There are a few different ways that we can make up this time, so we are asking for your input in order to help us make the final decision. Please complete a brief survey by Monday, September 20 at 8:00 AM. In order to complete the survey, follow these steps:
- Log in to the FACTS Family Portal. If you have not set up your access, here are the instructions.
- Click "School" in the menu on the left-hand side.
- Then, click "Surveys."
- Click "Hurricane Time Recovery" to open the survey.
- The options are explained inside the survey. Please select the option or options that you are in favor of.
- Click "Submit."
Additionally, we have decided to transition to a trimester schedule instead of the current quarter schedule due to the loss of time from Hurricane Ida. This will enable us to maximize instruction, ensure mastery of concepts and skills, and balance the remainder of the school year. Tentative dates would be:
- End of 1st Trimester - October 29, 2021
- 2nd Trimester - November 1, 2021-February 11, 2022
- 3rd Trimester - February 14, 2022-May 26, 2022
I know there are a lot of changes to both school and personal life right now. Please know that we are always thoughtful, open-minded, and student-focused while making all decisions. I will continue to keep you updated on our progress!
Lastly, in order to spread God's love, we will be joining the efforts of Catholic Charities Archdiocese of New Orleans to host a drive for victims of Hurricane Ida throughout Southeast Louisiana. If you are able to donate, please send your donation next week. See the graphic below for more information.
May God bless you and keep you,
Jessica
