McKinley Mustang Newsletter
Week of February 10th - 14th
A Note From Your Principal
I can't believe we are already in February? With a couple of Mondays off and minimum days for conferences February is sure to fly by. It's so important to stay in touch with school reading the school newsletter and looking at Instagram and Facebook for updates. We also have many exciting events happening on campus. We look forward to the Talent show, movie night and conferences.
Join us on Wednesday for February’s PTA meeting
This month we will be appointing our Nominating Committee to recruit for PTA positions for next year. View the agenda here. Remember that PTA monthly meetings are always at 6:30 pm in the multi. Spanish translation and childcare are offered free of charge. Childcare at the PPNS (across the parking lot from the PACS classrooms).
We have many open positions this year that need to be filled up in order to have an operating PTA next year! Please take a look at this list of open positions and let us know how you would like to get involved. Email the PTA Presidents if you want to nominate yourself or you have any further questions about a particular position.

McKinley TIDE needs parent reading volunteers! Just 1.5h a month!
McKinley's TIDE (Team for Inclusivity, Diversity & Equity) is launching a new parent reading volunteer program to address the needs of our English language learners and help remedy the achievement gap between some of our student subgroups. We are piloting this program in 3rd grade, in the hopes that trained parent volunteers can help these students increase their reading fluency.
If you can devote a 1.5 hour block of time to read to students every three weeks, let Mrs. Roberts know ASAP! She'll get you trained and help slot you into the volunteer schedule; the first training session is scheduled for this Wednesday, February 12 at 9am.
Questions or other input for McKinley TIDE regarding diversity, equity, or inclusion on campus? Contact McKinley TIDE committee lead Julie Petersen anytime at email@example.com or 415.269.2984
Shade structure project manager needed
Many families have asked for some kind of shade structure over the picnic tables during the last few years and the PTA heard you!
The PTA is looking into this investment but has faced the difficulty is that this is a capital improvement to the school and it requires getting permission from and working with District to make it happen.
If you are passionate about adding shade to the picnic table areas and would like to help make it happen, please contact PTA president Amy Malaise
