Designing Your Classroom Acceptable Use Policy
Social Media: "forms of electronic communication through which users create online communities to share information, ideas, personal messages, and other content"-Merriam Webster
Social Media Statistics
As technology advances so does the digital knowledge of many of today’s students. That is to say that of the three digital literacies they are further knowledgeable about functional digital literacy then they are of network and critical digital literacy. This is due to their engagement in the numerous social medias. Thus the use of social media as a “learning media” will facilitate their acquisition of network and critical digital literacy.
- Functional digital literacy: "the ability to operate in a digital environment" (Poore, 2016), the basics of creating and maintaining an account on social media
- Network digital literacy: "knowing how to manage various online profiles" (Poore, 2016), the risks, understanding the policies and the implications
- Critical digital literacy: "using higher-level thinking skills and engaging with cultural, social, political, and intellectual life more generally in a networked world" (Poore, 2016)
