ATTENDANCE
College classes at TCC are now complete; however, high school is still in session and we are still taking attendance.
Freshmen and Sophomores should be in the common area or in open classrooms (with teacher permission) when not in high school classes.
If a student needs to go onto the TCC campus (library book return, etc.), they must have permission from Ms. Raney, Ms. Lane, or Ms. Aguirre in the front office. We will use a sign out/sign in process to keep track of students who are taking care of business on the TCC campus.
Let's have a great finish to the 2018-19 school year!
COUNSELORS'S CORNER
Seniors – Will you earn your high school diploma?
Seniors, if there is a chance that you may earn/earned a final grade of 69 or below in one of your current college classes OR high school classes, you will be in danger of not earning your high school diploma. See Mrs. Miller no later than Tuesday afternoon if you have questions/concerns or may earn/earned a grade of 69 or lower in one of your current high school or college classes.
Have you recently passed one of your TSI Tests?
Please remember that if you have recently passed one of your TSI tests, you need to stop by the counseling office so that Mrs. Miller can help you register for the correct college class.

Students wanting to take high school summer classes through GCISD for initial credit or credit recovery, please note that the online registration will close at 2:00pm on Saturday, June 1. For additional information about GCISD’s high school summer school classes, please view the attached Summer School Information handouts, see Mrs. Miller, or visit the district website: https://www.gcisd.net/parents/summer_programs/secondary_summer_school.

After School TSI Testing Sessions this Semester
Mrs. Haney will offer after school TSI testing sessions this semester. The dates are listed below. The first 24 students to sign up for testing on these nights will be able to test from 4:30-6:30 p.m. in room 1219. The form to sign up was emailed to students in their GCISD email accounts earlier this week. Students will need a ride home after the test. Bus transportation is available at 7:30 p.m. for drop off at Mustang-Panther Stadium. Please contact Mrs. Haney at kristinia.haney@gcisd.net with any questions.
May 21 (Tuesday) *This is a Big Brothers and Sisters night. Any student staying for BBBS Mentor 2.0 has time to test and then attend the dinner. There will be a bus that picks up students at 7:30 p.m. and drops off at Mustang-Panther Stadium.
TSI BOOT CAMP June 17-21
TSI BOOT CAMP June 17-21 for Rising Sophomores and Rising Juniors
TSI Boot Camp for rising sophomores and rising juniors will be held on June 17-21 from 9:00am – 1:00:pm. TSI Boot Camp is MANDATORY for rising juniors who have not yet passed TSI Writing and TSI Reading. It is highly recommended for rising juniors who have not yet passed TSI Math.
Juniors only have 4 semesters left to finish high school and their associates degree. All associates degrees require a college math credit. It is hard to prepare for the TSI tests while taking college and high school classes. Rising sophomores, I highly recommend you take advantage of this opportunity to become TSI complete. I have emailed a google sign-up sheet to all rising juniors and rising sophomores who have not passed all TSI exams. Parents please encourage your students to sign-up! Bus transportation will be provided from Mustang-Panther Stadium to Collegiate Academy each day if we have several students who need assistance with transportation. Because Mrs. Waters and I need time to prepare for our students’ individual needs, the deadline to sign up for TSI Bootcamp is June 4, 2019. There will be another TSI Boot camp opportunity in August during our summer bridge program. Details on the August bootcamp will be announced in The Phoenix News soon.

Scholarships for College-Bound, High School Seniors
A great source of scholarship money for families looking for college funds may be their own employer(s). Many companies offer scholarships for their employees or their children, but it may not be common knowledge. It pays, literally and figuratively, for parents to take the time and ask their human resources liaison if such scholarships exist. This is especially true if you work for a larger corporation or a more established company.
Once the graduating senior has been accepted at a particular college, they need to meet with a financial aid officer at the school to find out what scholarship resources the school may have to offer for a shortfall in college money. Often, schools can cover some of the remaining cost or recommend the student for a scholarship.
