Reaching the World for Christ

Thanks for showing interest in the Missions Ministry of Sanibel Community Church! Our hope is to offer you detailed information every month to deepen your understanding of who we support and why, to highlight some of the ministries and what they are doing specifically on the field, and to call you to pray more specifically for missions.

Sanibel Community Church highly values the missions ministry of the Gospel of Jesus Christ. While missions has been a strong part of who we are as a church for decades, it seems that the Lord is continuing to broaden our horizons- connecting us with more ministries on the field and calling folks from our community to serve globally! Check out some of these (maybe not so) new faces and ideas.

SCC regularly supports over 20 ministries in the field- both globally and locally. This support includes financial commitments, communication between our Missions Team and the ministries, and regular and intentional intercessory prayer. If you would like more information on our accountability guidelines and partnership procedures please contact Pastor Brad. Take a look at the following video reports from two of our mission partners.

Training National Trainers

SCC Missions has partnered with Leadership Resources International for over 10 years supporting their TNT (training national trainers) program. Now LRI has taken this same incredible curriculum and offered it to stateside churches. SCC will host a pilot session on OCT 7th. Please mark your calendar and register for this unique opportunity to study the Word of God.

Food Packaging Project

On Saturday, November 22, SCC Missions will host another Food Packaging Project. Partnering with Meals of Hope, this is an opportunity for our congregation and community to come together for 2 hours (9:00am-11:00am) to produce over 50,000 meals for the hungry in Ft Myers. Look for more information during our Oct/Nov Special Missions Offering videos.

Golfers Needed!

Verity Pregnancy Center in Ft Myers is hosting their second annual golf tournament fundraiser. It will be held at the Pelican Preserve Gulf Course on Monday, Sept. 22nd. Contact Shelton Gwaltney or Becky Anderson for more information.

New Mission Systems International Boutique

NMSI is a missions sending agency located in Ft Myers with which two families of our SCC member missionaries are a part (The Martells and the Hunts). In an effort to fund their Global Outreach Program, the organization will launch The Fig Leaf Boutique this coming December. They are now collecting gently used clothing and home décor. Please contact Janelle Beaber for more information.

The Owen Family has served over 10 years in the missions field on the cutting edge of cross-cultural Bible translation through Pioneer Bible Translators. After completing a translation of the Gospel of Mark for the Somau Garia people in Papua New Guinea in 2007, they journeyed back to the States for respite and re-strategizing. Now the Lord is calling them back to the field, and Papua New Guinea specifically, to continue in the work of translation. Over the past few years, the Owens have become heavily involved in the ministries here at SCC including the prayer team, missionary care, the missions team, Logos, and more. Watch their story below and prayerfully consider launching them back into full-time ministry through your financial gift to the August/September Special Missions Offering.
