Mr. Younker's Class Presents Projects
The English 9 Honors class presented their Shakespeare projects for display in the LMC. Both a presentation and content project, the students researched various aspects of Elizabethan life and then were scored on eye contact, voice, knowledge of the topic, preparation, adherence to project requirements, creativity and content. After completion, the students did a "Gallery Walk/Talk" in which each person presented his material and stated what two new ideas he had found. Afterwards, they answered questions both from their classmates and from Mr. Younker. Mr. Younker was pleased with the "ingenuity and creativity that the students used connected with the reading of "Romeo and Juliet." The projects are on display in the LMC for the next several weeks.

This year’s musical will be “MAME,” which is a non-stop comedy about the well-to-do Mame who lives in New York City and has a very adventurous spirit and believes life is a banquet! The performances will be February 27, 28 and March 1 at 7:30 p.m. You DON’T want to miss this one!
Four SHS Choir students were selected to the Indiana All State Choir and will perform with approximately 250 other Indiana choral students in concert on Saturday, January 25 in Fort Wayne. The students were selected through audition in September. This event is held in conjunction with the Indiana Music Educators Association’s annual convention. Best wishes to Emma Mundy, Ryan Hill, Katie Kendall and Courtney Jones for an excellent experience!
We will host the ISSMA district Vocal/Piano Solo and Ensemble contest at the Southridge complex on Saturday, February 1. Twenty-five area schools will participate in this festival.
