Cedar Grove Elementary School
Parent Patriot Post: 10/24/22
HOME OF THE "PROUD PATRIOTS"
The mission of Cedar Grove Elementary is to grow our students into respectful, curious and productive citizens.
Halloween is upon us!
Some Tips for Dress Up Day (Friday, 10/28)
Please avoid the following:
- Masks which restrict vision
- Gorey makeup which may scare our youngest Patriots
- Fake weapons including guns, swords, knives, etc.
- Costumes with inappropriate content (We are rated TV-Y and TV-G here at Cedar Grove!)
Please check with your child's teacher regarding treats or the use of inflatable costumes within the classroom setting. Inflatable costumes cannot be worn walking up or down stairs (it's not safe).
If you do not want your child to participate in Halloween, please be sure to reach out to your child's teacher and we will make accommodations.
We want everyone to have an enjoyable Friday, October 28th.

DROP OFF & PICK UP!
Starting this week...
When dropping off students in the Brookside Entrance, please do not park and walk your children across the lot. It is creating increased safety concerns and slowing the line of cars dropping off students along the curb. Also, when you pull up to the curb, please pull all the way up and let your child out of the car anywhere along the sidewalk. Your adherence to these procedures will increase efficiency and safety during morning drop off, which is a shared goal by parents, teachers and administrators.
Starting this week, you will be directed to remain in the drop off car line and pull all the way up along the curb. Please respect these drop off procedures.
If your child has not yet developed the skills to independently get out of the car, please see the live link, "Fostering Independence During Morning Drop-Off" by Chana Birnbaum, O.T. and Jacklyn George, P.T. Mrs. Birnbaum and Mrs. George created this parent resource for students to learn and improve motor activities and routines. Growing strong, confident and independent students is a goal here at Cedar Grove Elementary!
(For those of you who experience the Brookside drop off each morning, enjoy this piece by the "Today Show" about a mother's funny "Carpool Line Tutorial." It's important to laugh!!)
Classroom Spotlight!
Mrs. Palmieri's Class!
A note from Mrs. Palmieri:
We had so much fun in B106 this week! We learned how to be a good friend with a story about what makes a good friend. Then, we discussed activities we could do with friends and picked our favorite one. We also read Rainbow Fish and discussed sharing and created a rainbow fish craft. We are working on math skills by matching objects with corresponding numbers and learning the names of numbers we see on the calendar, our hundred chart, and numbers around the room. We practiced our language skills when we read the Halloween story, Who's at the Door. The students identified the characters in the story and requested a turn to ring the door bell on the book.
What a great week in B106!!
