What impact, if any, do you believe a classroom teacher has on an ELL’s attitude towards reading?

A classroom teacher can have a huge impact on the attitude of ELL’s toward reading. Students do not inherently know what level or genre would be a good fit for them. It is a teacher’s duty to guide students to content and reading level that is appropriate for the readers. Teachers also play a great part in motivation and building interest in reading.

Can an ELL have a different reading experience, attitude, or feeling in the L2 than they do in the L1? Why or why not?

Yes. There is probably an ease about reading in L2 that was not in L1 because it was strictly decoding and not enjoyable comprehension.
