LEARNING
Building parent trust and confidence – how did you do?
Term 1 is hurtling to an end, which means it’s a good time to review your start of year progress in parent-teacher relationship building.
Here’s a simple checklist.... Have you :
* Initiated contact and met parents and carers
* Gathered family information
* Discovered parent and carer goals and shared their goals for students
* Established individual parent contact plans where necessary?
Term 2 is all about Consolidating Relationships.
To do this:
• Share information about student progress
• Establish individual student improvement plans where needed
• Practise client care principles
• Pass on relevant parenting tips to individual parents
Related teacher development topics in the online Education Centre:
• Manage parent meetings successfully
• Manage difficult parent meetings
• Provide a great client care experience

SCHOOL DEVELOPMENT DAY VARIATION
Correct dates are in this notice....
Following the closing date of 24th March as Indicated in the previous Memo below...
" Memo To Staff - As experienced in 2015 we took the opportunity to alter the School Development Day Timetable in lieu of attending the last day of school in term 4. In 2016 the last two days of school are Monday December 19th and Tuesday December 20th. These are set as School Development Days. Again there is an opportunity to complete an alternative timetable for 2016 if staff are willing to participate. The proposed timetable date changes are :-
1. Term 2
i) Week 5 - Wednesday 25th May - 3.15pm - 6.15pm
ii) Week 7 - Wednesday 8th June - 3.15pm - 6.15pm
2. Term 3
i) Week 7 - Wednesday 31st August - 3.15pm - 6.15pm
3. Term 4
i) Week 3 - Wednesday 26th October - 3.15pm - 6.15pm
If you disagree with this proposal please reply to me by email by the close of school Thursday 24th March 2016. If you agree there is no need to respond. Feedback can also be given through your supervisor at your Stage Meeting. I trust that this proposal which has been in pre discussion phase and is now formally proposed meets the needs of staff and the school in our professional learning as intended."
The process identified above has indicated the willingness of the majority of staff to progress an application for variation. I look forward to this application for a variation of days meeting the needs of staff, the school and the community.
Staff who are not able or unwilling to participate in this variation will be provided with the normal 2 X School Development Days at the end of the 2016 school year - Monday 19th December and Tuesday 20th December. On those days staff identified for engagement in the professional learning will be provided with the materials and a support person to work through this material as required.
Thank you all for your consideration and time.
ANZAC RESOURCES
The Department has developed two resources as part of the NSW Governments support for the 2014 – 2018 Centenary of Anzac.
Commemorating Anzac through engaging learning has just gone live.
This is a substantial resource which provides interesting background information, followed by teaching and learning through identified and described learning concepts, concluding with K-10 teaching and learning for a number of subjects.
‘Research and Adopt a Veteran’ is a resource that guides the authentic historical research process in identifying and researching the primary documents and sources for a First World War AIF veteran.
