President's Letter
Cape Story Residents and Friends,
After a long period of down-time, the Cape Story Skipjack is back in business! The Skipjack had been a quarterly Cape Story publication, providing local updates, articles on past/current/future Cape Story events, city plans that may affect the Shore Drive area, and other items of interest. It will be posted online for all to read and sent to Civic Association members via e-mail. Many thanks to Chris Cohoon and Kim LaPointe, two of our active members and volunteers, for taking the lead on this!
Autumn is upon us, and with it comes one of the best times of the year for those in our hideaway by the Bay!
We have many new families here in Cape Story, with lots of kids- neighbors, be sure to let them know about the hot spots for Halloween! It goes without saying that those out and about should be on the watch for cars- and on the flip side, if you plan to travel that night, please be VERY CAUTIOUS when driving, as some of the streets will be filled with children and holiday participants of all ages!
The following week, we have the main event of the year for the Civic Association- the annual Cape Story by the Sea Oyster Roast, held this year on Sunday, November 6, from 1pm-5pm, in the neighborhood park. This is our key fund-raising event, enabling us to sponsor other activities throughout the year, and give back to the community and others in-need. Check out the other postings and communiques for more details!
Finally, it’s close to year-end. As always, those who actively participate in the Civic League and have, or can make, the time to volunteer are encouraged to apply for an officer position next year. Please contact any of the current officers (listed in this publication), for more information or to share your interest. We’ll plan to discuss this at the next Civic League meeting, scheduled November 14.
Looking forward to seeing everyone out-and-about in the neighborhood!
Looking forward to 2023, we are looking for people to step up as Civic League leaders in the following positions:
