PBIS News
Congratulations on our first Tier 1 PBIS milestone this year! We’re happy to celebrate with you and your students on the achievement of filling the rocket halfway. Since the students have met their blue ticket goal for the entire school, we will be launching our first school-wide celebration next week. On EITHER Wednesday or Thursday, (November 8th or 9th), we are asking you to select a 30-minute block of time for your classroom for a “Board Game Bonanza!” The idea is simple enough - students will be encouraged to bring in board games (or card games) to play with their classmates on the date you select (the 8th or the 9th). Just a reminder - our incredible innovation team has giant-sized Jenga, checkers, and Connect 4 that may be available for use. For your convenience, we’ve included a form email for you to send to your parents or include in your newsletter for next week. Congratulations!

Hello, parents and families! We have some exciting news at Alanton Elementary! During our first nine-week period, our Astros have worked very hard to choose respectful, responsible, and safe behaviors! Our students have met the first school-wide goal we’ve set for them - to fill the rocket in our lobby halfway with the blue tickets they’ve earned since the start of the school year. As a special treat, each classroom will be having a “Board Game Bonanza.” We are inviting you to send in a board game or card game that your child would enjoy playing with classmates during this fun 30-minute block of time on _________________. If you choose to send in a game, please make sure your child is able to teach his or her friends how to play. Also, please have your child’s name somewhere on the game and place any small pieces in a Ziploc bag so nothing gets lost. We also recommend rubber-banding the board game box shut so everything stays in place.
Thank you for your help, and we look forward to celebrating our Astros!
We also wanted to remind you to be on the lookout for classes in our hallways, cafe, and other spaces who are following the Astro Way. Be sure to keep those compliments coming - we want all of our classes to enjoy the success of being commended for respectful, responsible, and safe behaviors. (Please remember to tie compliments into our school-wide matrix).
Thank you so much, teachers! Here is a direct link to this week’s PBIS recording tool. (We will skip the 2-day week next week for PBIS blue ticket winners. Announcements for this week’s winners will be made on the week of November 13. The same goes for drawing names for the 8th and 9th. We won’t be asking for names for that short week.)

Bleeding Control Kits
Bleeding control kits are used to control serious bleeding and prevent further loss for a victim suffering a traumatic injury. These kits are designed to be used by anyone present in an emergency, much like an AED. Additional information can be found at https://www.stopthebleed.org/training/online-course/. The attached Stop the Bleed poster and Save a Life flowchart will be included in each kit.
