SLCS District Update
11.4.2021
Note from the Superintendent
Greetings SLCS Families and Staff Members!
It has been a great first three months of the 2021-22 school year. Despite the fact that COVID is still impacting our environment, many of our normal traditions have returned. We look forward to seeing our high school parents at this evening's parent teacher conferences.
I would like to take this opportunity to give a shoutout to our Board of Education members for their patience, time and energy. Their service to our students, staff, and community is greatly appreciated!
Just a reminder to "Fall Back" this weekend as Daylight Saving Time ends.
SLCS Proud!

Celebrate Hope
I am John Ball, co-founder of Celebrate Hope. I along with Lisa Goyette (co-founder) have been brought on by South Lyon Schools to offer support to families who are a part of the district. Parenting can be challenging in and of itself, but then adding other factors that so many of us have experienced over the past 20 months has contributed to the stress and strain in families. We are here to help you regardless of the nature of what challenge you are experiencing.
We wanted to remind you that on Monday, November 8th from 6:30 - 8:00 p.m. we will lead a parent connect event in which we will be discussing how you as a parent can "Manage Stress and Implement Self Care"
We understand that there was some confusion at the parent seminar on October 11th. This event on November 8th will be a hybrid event. It will be both in person with a virtual option.
The in person event option will be held at the High School auditorium (1000 N Lafayette) If you elect to attend virtually, you will receive the link upon registration.

Special Education
Calling all Parents of Students with Special Needs:
Our District is looking for a parent to serve as our Special Education Parent Advisory Committee (PAC) Representative. The parent selected for this position will serve a three year term alongside our existing PAC Representative, Amanda Fitch. The wonderful thing about being a PAC Representative is the potential impact that you have for supporting other families in our district. The commitment needed for this position is minimal (1 meeting per month) and it allows flexibility. All parents of a currently enrolled South Lyon Community Schools student with a special need (student must have an active IEP) are invited to apply for the position by stating their interest via email: toths@slcs.us on or before November 17, 2021. An informal interview panel will be created to meet with the applicants in order to select one representative.
