Wasco Weekly

THE STRENGTH OF THE WOLF IS ITS PACK

October 14, 2022

Wasco Families,

The hallways at Wasco are busy places. At any given time you can see students transitioning to activities, working in small groups, or you can view the work of our students. We use the hallway to showcase our values, such as our character banners and student projects that exemplify our work together. For example, the pictures here display our “Respect Recipes”. These “Recipes” are from our all school Town Hall when our mixed groups of students worked with their Den leader to identify actions we all can take to demonstrate respect for others. Our next hallway project will be in honor of Veterans Day. Families are invited to complete a mini biography about a close friend or family member who is a Veteran or Active Service Member. Each classroom will be hanging the biographies in an area of the main hallway, so we can transform it into a tribute honoring Military service. Details about this are in the link below.

Kind Regards,

Principal Brennan

Fall Celebration Plans

A couple guidelines for our upcoming Fall Parties (Monday, October 31).

  • No food or drinks (other than water) at Fall Parties

  • Students will bring their costumes and change in the afternoon. Costumes should be school appropriate and should not portray gore, blood, weapons. Revealing costumes and full face masks are not appropriate.

On the 31st, we will begin with a parade starting at 2:00. The classroom parties will immediately follow (2:20-2:50). If you are interested in becoming a PTO volunteer please contact our PTO at wascoptopresident@gmail.com

Request from PE Department

As the weather gets colder, Gr. 2-5 PE classes will try to go outside as much as possible so students can get fresh air. Please make sure your student is dressed appropriately for outdoor temperatures including coat, hats, and gloves. Once it snows, snow gear will be needed and we will try to get outside for snow games. K-1 is using the gym learning how to move safely, practicing basic skills, activities and games, including taking turns and sharing equipment.

Big Hearts of Fox Valley

As part of the District’s partnership with the nonprofit Big Hearts of Fox Valley and our school’s Parent Teacher Organizations, we have arranged for each of your schools to get involved with supporting our students in need this holiday season.

In the coming days, our operations team will deliver a donation box to each school for BHFV’s Holiday Toy Drive. We are asking you to keep this box on display from October 10 - November 7. Students, staff and families may donate items ranging from grocery store gift cards and toiletries to new board games and holiday wrapping paper. You also have the option to have students decorate these boxes as part of BHFV’s Deck the Box campaign. Our District PTO members have also been informed of this opportunity to lend their support.

Big Hearts Fox Valley is dedicated to supporting children affected by financial hardship around the December holidays and throughout the year. To learn more about BHFV and its donation campaign, visit www.bigheartsfv.org or contact Nicole Fraser at nicole@bigheartsfv.org.

Thank you for your commitment to our students and through partnerships such as these to brighten the lives of children each day.
