NEWS and NOTES
THIS IS IT FOR ISTEP Part I prep...let's make this week the best one instructionally!!!
I know we have been working hard at increasing our intentionality in our lessons and ramping up the rigor to get our students prepared for ISTEP. Part I is 30% of the overall score, which means we still have some heavy lifting to do for Part 2. Continue focusing on deconstructing standards and developing a singular purpose to lessons.
I have updated the ISTEP Part I Testing Plan to reflect proctors for each classroom teacher. The schedule is attached. We will only have to adjust the master schedule for one day and for grades 5-6 only. I will communicate this to affected individuals next week. Test administrators and proctors- I will need to meet with you on Thursday next week
A friendly reminder....there is a link to the TZ resources website for ELA and Math in the DIY section below. Grades 3-6...your data trackers can be downloaded from here. All grades...if you scroll down, you will be able to access resources for ELA and Math.
Please bring your data trackers to Data PLC's this week. We will focus on how students have grown from week to week in their skills. K-2, this will be a DIBELS Red/Green composite week. K-2 Team....as we continue our transition to TRC growth, I have included some resources you can use during read alouds. It is linked as Achieve the Core under the DIY PD section. You will need to create an account, but it is well worth it!
I included a link below for more information on Opportunity Culture under the DIY PD section. This gives you some information about the framework and how it has been utilized in other districts.
On Thursday, we will have a special guest visiting us at 1:30 pm in the gym. Blue, the Colt's mascot, will be coming to Wendell Phillips to "speak" to our students and share his new book "Blue's Road Trip through Indiana". We will also have a special guest reader for the book. Please feel free to wear your Colt's shirt and jeans. I am going to be allowing our students to do the same.
Continue enforcing positive behavior daily!! Use your Cardinal Cash to drive this enforcement. Make sure transitions, especially dismissal, are being followed with fidelity. When there are inconsistencies among classes, students become confused and think they can do the same. Goal- out of the building and buses rolling by 3:55 pm daily!
