Mr. Corso’s Principal’s Message
Positive Raiders: Responsible, Respectful, Hard Working and Kind
I wanted to let you know that the entire Black Mountain staff is thinking of our students and families, and sending positive thoughts your way. I have no doubt that these are trying times for everyone in our community and we will get through this.
You may have received a message from your child’s teacher/s about doing school work during the closure. I appreciate our teachers' work to pull enrichment activities together for our students and I want to clarify that the enrichment activities are OPTIONAL. The enrichment activities will not be graded.
More information will be coming regarding learning opportunities for BMMS students during the school closure. Please continue to check the PUSD website, our school website and your email for updated information.
Positive Message for the Week: On Wednesday, I read to students, “Women’s Day Message
This past Sunday was International women's day. The purpose of international women's day is to create a world movement to celebrate the achievements of women and bring awareness to obstacles that stand in the way of gender equality. It is important that all people in our community feel equal and have access to opportunities they wish to pursue. Having groups of people from different cultures, races, genders, and ability make for rich relationships. Eleanor Roosevelt once said, “No one can make you feel inferior without your consent.” We want everyone to feel they have a place here and they are important. Don’t let anyone make you feel otherwise.
As more and more people are concerned about public health, it is more important than ever to practice good hygiene. Wash your hands often, keep from touching your hands to your face, carry Kleenex with you and use them if you need to sneeze or cough. Don't share food or drinks with friends. Stay healthy Raiders.”
Vape Presentation: Lorretta Shughrue, BMMS’s Student Support Specialist, presented the dangers of vaping at our Tuesday COffee with the Principal. Here is the presentation if you would like to review it: Parent Presentation/Vaping
2nd Trimester Report Cards were handed out on Thursday: We encourage you to look it over with your students and help them set some goals for our last trimester of the 2019-2020 school year.
Course Request Forms: Present 8th graders should complete their online Course Request Forms for high school. 6th and 7th grade students returning to BMMS next year received their Course Request Form or CRF on Thursday. We will send you updated information about when the CRF forms are due. We made a series of videos to help with the forms. The grades listed below represent next year’s school year (ie: 7th Grade Video is for this year’s 6th graders who will be 7th graders next year):
