Tiger Tales
Hemmenway Elementary - November 2020 Edition
Note from the Principal
We have successfully completed our first two months of school and are preparing to move into the second nine weeks. Our staff has worked diligently to ensure your student is learning; whether face to face or online. With that being said, the district has recognized the need for additional planning and preparation time for our classroom teachers. They have identified the following days as Remote Learning Days from home for all students:
- November 3rd
- December 11
- January 15
- February 12
- March 12
- April 12
- May 17
Face to face students who will be learning from home on these days will receive a work packet the day before. They will not need devices in order to complete assignments and will have attendance taken by showing evidence of completing assignments.
Connect students will remain at home and learn through pre-recorded lessons and posted assignments. They will not have check-ins by their teachers or participate in live instruction. They will have attendance taken by showing evidence of completing assignments and/or logging into Schoology.
If you need to request on-campus learning for your child on one of these remote learning days, you will need to contact Hemmenway directly, as we will need to create a plan for this situation.
We thank you for understanding how valuable these days are to our teachers so they can effectively plan for the specific academic needs of our students.
We are hosting various Parent Technology Trainings on November 3rd via zoom that we hope you will attend. There are 6 sessions that will be hosted at 6 different times so that if you would like to participate in all of them, you can! Please the flyer below. We hope you will join us.
Sincerely,
Dr. Silliman

2021-2022 Code of Conduct/Student Handbook Feedback Forms
As we enter the fall season, it’s time again to seek feedback and input from our staff, students, and community members regarding our 2020-2021 Student Code of Conduct and Student Handbook.
These feedback forms will also be available online on both the district and campus websites. The deadline for submission to the Office of Student Services is Friday, December 18, 2020.
NOTE:
To further assist our efforts in gathering valuable feedback, and in addition to the hard copy versions of the feedback form, we have established an online form that stakeholders can use to submit their responses. The links for those online forms are listed below and will also be posted to the district and campus websites.
