Principally Speaking
Parent Teacher Conferences are coming on November 2 and November 9, and I want to apologize for any confusion caused by this year's sign up process. We had to change software programs. The program we used last year was no longer free for our use. We are learning right along with you and are making adjustments as we go to improve your experience.
Over this past week, our teachers have been working hard to gather information from all teachers on a single sheet of paper, so that we can make the best use of this conference time. To see a sample of the form we are using, click on the following link: https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B6-BoJ3M_N7mNFRQOWNVc1pxRWc/view?usp=sharing. No matter which teacher you meet with, you will receive feedback regarding your student for each core class.
The important thing is that you sign up for one ten-minute time slot to meet with a teacher or teachers (depending on the grade level) to get a quick snapshot of your student's performance thus far. Should you need more than the allotted time for Parent-Teacher conferences, you will have the opportunity to request an additional appointment for another day.
Below are the most frequently asked questions regarding Parent-Teacher conferences.
Q & A
1. There are many teachers listed. Which teacher do I sign up for?
At grade 5, sign up for any time slot with a core teacher (English, Math, Social Sciences, Science, or Social Studies) who your student has for class. Your conference will be attended by one or more of your student's core teachers. All teachers who are conferencing will have a general performance report from the other core teachers that your student has on his/her schedule.
At grades 6, 7 & 8, sign up for a time slot. Your conference will be attended by one or two of your student's core teachers. All teachers who are conferencing will have a general performance report from the other core teachers that your student has on his/her schedule.
2. What if there are no time slots available to meet with any of my student's teachers?
Please call the teacher by contacting the school office at 317-745-5491 to let the teacher know that you wish to meet with him or her. The teacher will then accommodate you the best that he or she can by providing a before, during, or after school appointment on another day. As well, a telephone conference is also an option if that works for you.
3. How do I know which teacher I am meeting with if my child is in grade 6, 7, or 8?
Each grade level will hold their conferences in a designated area that will be clearly posted for parents to see upon entering the building. In each area, large posters will be displayed with a specific schedule that shows the time of the conference, the location of the conference, and parent and teacher names listed. Please consult this poster upon arrival.

We had a great response to the Class T-shirts that were ordered at the beginning of the school year! We have heard from some students and parents that they would be interested in another round of orders. We will be sending out another order form after fall break to see if there is enough interest for us to have more printed. We do still have very limited sizes and quantities of the CLASS T-SHIRTS available at the Bookstore for $12 on Tuesday, Thursday and Friday mornings.

Cummins Behavioral Health Partnership for School Based Services
How Can the Partnership Benefit Students and Families
- School personnel and Cummin's staff are able to quickly identify needs that students may have.
- Cummins staff are located at the school and work hand in hand with teachers, school counselors, parents, and students.
- Parents/guardians are consulted each step along the way and are active participants in planning and carrying out treatment.
- Most services can be provided at the school or in the home, making it more convenient - and they are available year round.
- Services are strictly confidential and no care will be provided unless the parent/guardian gives permission.
All we ask is that you become actively involved in your child's care. When parents, school, and behavioral health professionals combine their knowledge, amazing things can happen!
