Bear Bulletin

Maire Newsletter March 11th edition

Dear Maire Families,

Our spring conferences are just around the corner. If you haven’t done so already, please be sure to sign up for a conference with your child’s homeroom teacher. Wednesday evening will be via zoom, while Thursday afternoon and evening will be in-person at Maire. Our support staff and specials teachers are often shared with other buildings, so if you are interested in meeting with them be sure to check their availability on PTC Wizard to set up a time to connect.

Conferences are a time to celebrate the successes of the year and continue to establish goals for the final few months of the year. I’m incredibly proud of the work our staff and students have done this year, despite the obstacles that got in their way with the pandemic. The partnership between parents, teachers, and students is the key to our success at Maire. Thanks for helping in that partnership to make well-rounded Maire Bears each and every year.

Maire Vocal Music Concert 3/15/22

When: Tuesday March 15th. All students arrive by 6:45 for the 7:00pm show

Where: Brownell Middle School (not Parcells)

Who: First Grade through Fourth Grade ONLY (Not Kindergarten)

Students will be asked to wear "Sunday best", ie, no jeans or sweats. No heels for the girls as they can be a hazard on the risers. Choir students have chosen to wear black and white combinations. That afternoon students will have practice in the gym and will be reminded of all the details about the big night.

Students will get dropped off at their assigned class/grade level rooms by a parent (we will have signs to help you find the room). Each grade will perform a few songs and parents and family will love seeing their child have fun singing on stage. Choir will be our last performing group of the night. Once the show is over parents will pick up their child from the same room they were dropped off at. We anticipate about a 45 minute concert.

*As a reminder, masks are optional for students, staff, parents, and community members in our schools at this time.

Parent Teacher Conferences March 23rd & 24th

Your username and password for PTC Wizard are the same as your MiStar parent portal pin and password.

Leader in Me Habit # 6 : Synergize

This month at Maire we are focusing on Habit 6: Synergize.

Working together is a goal that we have in school and in life. It's good to remember:

*I get along well with people and work well in groups

*I value the strengths of others, and allow myself to learn from them

*I know that by working together as a team we can get more done and come up with better solutions than we could alone

Character Word of the month : Cooperation

We are focusing on Cooperation this month at Maire.

Cooperation is working together to achieve the same goal. This is a character trait that we practice every day, and it goes hand in hand with our Leader in Me Habit as well.

At Maire, we are better together!

New Maire t shirt (Spirit Wear )

PTO is selling a new Maire T-Shirt year round now, our "classic" MAIRE BEARS logo on a navy shirt. $10 for everyone.

Milk issues at lunchtime

We wanted families to know there is a potential issue getting milk for school lunches. We have been told that one big issue is they can't source the paper cartons. Due to this supply chain issue, there may be days that we are not able to serve milk. You might see juice, bottled water or milk at lunch as we deal with this issue.

Krausmann Family

As many know, our crossing guard Dick Krausmann passed away recently. He served our community for 50 years, helping Maire students cross Cadieux. Maire is working with his son, Ken Krausmann, to create something for our safety patrol to wear in their honor. In addition, a Maire parent is collaborating with the City of Grosse Pointe to create a memorial in his honor. Please follow this link if interested in supporting this cause:

Kindergarten and Young 5s Enrollment Open Now

Help spread the word in the community that our enrollment for next year's Kindergarten and Young 5s is OPEN! We are really hoping to have enough families interested in Young 5s next year, so getting the word out with friends and neighbors helps!

Don't forget to order your Maire yearbook!

Have you ordered your child's yearbook yet? A common question we get is "Aren't they included with the photo package that I ordered in the fall?" The answer is no, yearbooks are a separate purchase done later in the year.

Yearbook order info can be found here: Maire yearbook

We are working hard to make the Maire yearbook bigger and better! This year we have a custom front and back cover, designed by Maire 4th graders!

Stay connected!
