The Latest Update on the South Campus Construction:

On June 25, 2019, Boo Kay (Head of School), Amelia Yakupzack (Assistant Head of School), and Gabe Fontenot (Athletic Director) met with Glenn Angelle (Architect for the South Campus) to pick out bleachers, lockers, and floors for the new gymnasium. The meeting was detail-oriented and thoughtfully planned to bring our vision to life. We cannot wait for you to see the end results!

Callie M. Thomas, Director of Advancement for Bishop Noland Episcopal Day School

Salutations! I am so blessed and excited to be working with you all on this journey to advance the vision for Bishop Noland Episcopal Day School. Let me begin my introducing myself and giving you a brief autobiography of my journey.

My name is Callie, and in 2009, I earned a B.S. degree in Marketing from McNeese State University and subsequently worked in sales and business development for an assisted living corporation in Lake Charles. Through training others and establishing positive team building practices, I developed a strong passion for teaching and was called to teach elementary where I could make a positive difference in a student’s life. I earned my Masters of Arts in Teaching from McNeese State University in 2015 and taught Pre-Kindergarten, 4th, 7th, and 8th grades. After fulfilling my short-term goals for teaching, I focused on my next professional goal: to blend my passion of both marketing and education. It is a privilege to be working at Bishop Noland Episcopal Day School where the faculty and staff ignite, inspire, and develop successful life-long learners, faith-centered learning environments, and well-rounded graduates. I am overwhelmed with joy to see the outstanding participation from our Campaign Donors and the fact that there has been a response of 100% from our faculty and staff. What a wonderful place to be where our gifts will make a difference for every student for generations. I look forward to working with you personally on our Capital Campaign, Advancing the Vision, and continuously move it forward throughout the upcoming years. Together, we will create for Southwest Louisiana an unprecedented premier college preparatory school.

My husband Mitch and I have three sons, Cole, Zachary, and our infant Michael. We have enrolled Cole and Zachary in Bishop Noland Episcopal Day School, and we look forward to watching our children grow academically and spiritually throughout the years.

In 2017, I wrote my first children’s book, Guardian Angel of Mine, to uplift and inspire children to always believe in themselves, persevere, and overcome doubt. It was our families’ favorite bedtime story and now it has been published for other children to hear the good message and see the creative and vibrant illustrations that bring joy and encouragement to many.

During my personal time, I am committed to spending creative and quality time with my family, actively participating in fitness classes via Peloton, and continuously learning about health and nutrition.

As we enter this exciting time at Bishop Noland Episcopal Day School, we look forward to sharing what your gift has created for your family and future families of our school. Thank you for prayerfully considering financial participation to our Capital Campaign. We cannot spell success without you!

Q: What grades will the South Campus serve?

A: The South Campus will serve middle school students (7th and 8th grade) as well as, upper school students (9th grade) adding an additional grade each year. The North Campus will continue to serve our preschool through lower school students (PreK 2 – 6th grade). Our goal is that this year’s 8th grade class will be our first 9th grade class.

Q: Will the tuition increase for the South Campus?

A: No, the tuition will be the same at both campuses.

Q: Who will teach at the South Campus?

A: All of our current middle school teachers will move to the South Campus with the exception of Mrs. Leah Begnaud. The teachers will be teaching 7th – 9th grade at the South Campus. Mrs. Begnaud will join Mrs. Hanchey and Mrs. Robertson in teaching 5th and 6th grade here at the North Campus. Our current enrichment teachers will travel between the North and South Campuses.

Q: How will I get my children to both campuses on time?

A: We will provide bus transportation to both campuses. The start and end time for the North Campus will remain the same, 7:55-3:10. The South Campus hours will be 8:30 – 3:30. Providing bus transportation to and from both campuses will make drop-off and pick-up easier for our families.

Q: How many entrances will the school have?

There will be one entrance to the school on North Gray Market Drive. The current entrance on Big Lake Road is for construction purposes and will be closed. Eventually trees will be planted there.

Q: When will the South Campus open?

A: We plan to open in August 2020.

Q: How can my family and I help?

A: We ask everyone to pray for and encourage our committees as we continue to raise funds for our new middle and upper school. If you would like to learn more about the South Campus and become involved in additional capacities, please contact Callie Thomas, Director of Advancement, or Boo Kay, Head of School, at (337) 433-5246.
