RMS Wildcat Weekly
November 15, 2019 Information for our Families
Happy Friday!
First off, thank you to all our Wildcats for a great week! We hope you had positive and productive conferences this week! Thank you to all who participated.
We want to share a special thank you to our counselors, Nancy Licona and Cory Way, for organizing an awesome Career Fest for our Wildcats this week! We also want to thank our staff for leading great lessons on Job Applications/Interviewing Skills, Financial Literacy, Career Research, and more! Our students also all took the "RIASEC", which is an assessment aimed at identifying students' strengths, interests, and values and linking them to a career pathway they might be interested in.
We also want to send our sincere gratitude to the many volunteer speakers who came to share their career journeys with our Wildcats! We had many diverse careers represented including a Lawyer, Park Ranger, Photographer, HR Analyst, Interpreter, Event Planner, Psychologist, Machinest, Pharmacist, Physician, Video Game Developer, Firefighter, Police Officer, Marketer, Lab Scientist, Construction Manager, and more! We are so grateful for these volunteers who were willing to take the time to help our Wildcats learn more about potential career paths.
General News:
Roosevelt's second annual PTA sponsored Wildcat's Got Talent Show is happening this Thursday, November 21st. Stop by to support our Wildcat Talent! Free admission! Starts at 6:00pm in MPR
Attendance: Attendance is key to student success! Please encourage your student to attend school every day and arrive on time. Remember, absences must be cleared within 72 hours (3 school days) after student returns to school. We also appreciate when you schedule dental/doctor appointments outside of the school day to avoid instructional interruptions.
Safety Reminder: Parents, please remind your students to use the crosswalk when arriving or leaving school. The heavy traffic makes it unsafe for students because drivers may not see them as they cross the street.
Health office: Due to the continued warm weather, please send a refillable water bottle with your student daily. Thank you to all the parents/guardians who have been providing proof of updated immunizations.
Our award-winning Wildcat yearbook staff is currently taking pre-orders for the 2019-2020 yearbook at 20% off the end-of-the-year price! Support our school by purchasing a yearbook through the front office, our RMS webstore, or www.jostens.com! Click here to see our flyer.

B.L.A.S.T. aims to help students succeed in their classes in a fun and supportive environment after school. There is a maximum of 35 students allowed per classroom, so come on over after school before spots will up! Tutoring takes place 3:15pm - 4:15pm. Click here to take a look at the BLAST schedule.
Roosevelt has over 20 clubs that take place during lunch and after school. Most of our clubs are open and students can show up to any meeting. For a list of clubs being offered this year CLICK HERE. In order to fully engage the Vista community in discussions about potential budget solutions and to gather input and recommendations, VUSD has set a series of LCAP and Budget Community Forums taking place around the district. We will have Spanish interpretation available at all forums. Further, we will be posting to the Vista Unified web page a link to a digital feedback form for all community members who are not able to attend a forum in person. We will also be fully engaging our bargaining units (Vista Teachers Association and the California School Employees Association), as well as the District English Language Advisory Committee, District Parent Advisory Committee and the Vista Parent Teachers Association in feedback and recommendations for budget solutions.
