Fox Family Focus
Week of December 5, 2021
Greetings Fox Families!
This is Anita Roane, your principal with this week’s announcements and reminders.
The Foxy Focus for December is Cooperation
The students hear the following statement on the announcements each morning and are encouraged to incorporate it into their daily habits.
Cooperation includes taking turns, working together, and sharing. When we cooperate, we work as a team to make things better for everyone. Friends who are cooperative are helpful and work to get along with everyone.
We are only one week away from our Penguin Patch Holiday Shop! The shop will have gifts that cost as little as $0.25 and up to $12. That makes it easy for our foxes to find something for everyone on their list. Students will be shopping during their STEAM class so don't forget to let them bring in the money they’ve saved to buy surprise gifts for their loved ones. Budget envelopes will be going home with students this week in their Fox Folders. Bring these back next week on their day to shop!
LCPS is excited to promote active learning in our classrooms by incorporating the Walkabouts platform. Walkabouts are web-based lessons for pre-kindergarten to second-grade students that integrate movement with language arts, reading, and math content. Walkabouts are correlated to state and national standards. When schools implement the evidence-based Walkabouts platform, students are engaged in lessons that bring key educational concepts to life through active learning techniques.
Parents, please remember our guidelines for changes in afternoon dismissal. Recently I have noticed a lot of parents coming to the front office after 2:30 PM to pick up students while other parents are waiting patiently in the pickup line. This is not a new procedure, this is serving as a reminder that all changes in afternoon dismissal must be made by 12 noon. Students will no longer be called to the front office without prior notification before noon. I ask that you remember this and please plan accordingly because after 2:30 PM you will be directed to the pickup line. Students should only be getting picked up early for scheduled appointments or emergencies. Our goal is for everyone to be respectful and use the parent pickup line to receive their students at the end of the day and to have our students get the maximum instructional time provided by their teachers by allowing them to remain in the classroom until dismissal. Thank you for your cooperation with this matter.
Here is a message from our PTA President. We hope you will join us for another PTA Meeting Via ZOOM! We know the holiday season gets super busy with activities, so we hope to make this time spent worth your while learning more about our PTA and how we can help our children, teachers, and school.
