HAVEN TRAINING INFORMATION AND PARENT OPT-OUT
In May, ROHS is offering HAVEN Training for 9th-11th graders. The HAVEN Training program will occur during the school day. The curriculum will be presented by skilled Prevention Education Specialists. Haven is Oakland County’s only comprehensive program for victims of domestic violence and sexual assault. HAVEN provides shelter, counseling, advocacy, and educational programming to nearly 30,000 people each year. We partner with Haven to provide our students with skills on violence-free relationships: sexual harassment (9th), dating violence (10th), sexual assault (11th), and consent training (12th). Training is facilitated by Haven personnel and our counselors and social workers will be available to support students during each session.
Today is the last day to opt out if you DO NOT want your child to participate in HAVEN Training.
Please email brittany.landau@royaloakschools.org to OPT-OUT.
MISTAR GRADEBOOK
As a reminder, MiStar is the official gradebook and Parent(s)/Guardian(s) can go to the MiStar Parent Portal to see up-to-date grades for their child. If you have any questions about your child's progress or would like to meet with your child's teacher, please connect with them directly to schedule a conference time. (ROHS Staff Directory)
ROHS PICK-UP & DROP-OFF
We know that drop-off and pick-up can be difficult with everyone's busy schedules. With a few hundred students who are coming to and leaving school during a very short turnaround time of 10 - 15 minutes, we need to ensure safety. In order to do this in a safe and efficient manner, it is imperative that all families respect and follow the designated drop-off and pick-up location.
One of the greatest and growing areas of concern is the practice of families dropping students off in the circle drive (Lexington/Crooks). This is an area for buses only. We will be working with RO Police Officers to help reinforce this No Parking/Drop off Zone. Thank you for your support and understanding.
VAPING
Your continued and consistent help is needed. While having family discussions, we ask that you partner with us to speak out against vaping. Collectively we can do this. Our goal is to change this negative behavior occurring around our great school (especially in the bathrooms). Together WE can make a difference. OUR entire school community will be better because of this work. Thank you so much in advance for your efforts. OUR kids will love us for it!
NO PLACE FOR HATE
ROHS is pleased to join the ADL in the NO PLACE FOR HATE campaign. As partners in this student driven commitment, ROHS's pledge is to:
- Try at all times to be aware of bias and seek to understand those perceived different from others
- Reach out to support those who are targets of hate
- Think of specific ways to promote respect for people and create a prejudice free zone
- Speak out against all forms of prejudice and discrimination
ECF CHROMEBOOKS
Parent(s)/Guardian(s) can complete the ECF Chromebook Request Form in order to get a Chromebook for a student. Please make sure to read the request/commitment form carefully. Chromebooks will be delivered to ROHS toward the end of each week.
Please visit the District Technology Website for additional information and support. If you have any questions, please contact Ms. Hermon (Amy.Hermon@royaloakschools.org)
MATH TUTORING
ROHS will offer free math tutoring provided by the math department for any ROHS student enrolled in: Pre-Algebra, Algebra 1, Geometry, and Algebra 2. Daily Math Tutoring Schedule.
