Background History
Impressionism developed in Paris. This type of art was originated by artist who where rejected or shunned by powerful academic art institutions. It started to turn away from the fine detail finishes of the regular artist of that time. The main concept of impressionism was to start painting and drawing stuff to how it looks. Not every picture you paint or draw is perfectly neat.
Major Players
The major player in impressionism was Edouard Manet. He was the first and most important innovators to emerge from Paris. He started to focus on everyday life like cafe scenes. He influenced artist on the edge and encouraged a new type that was different than other painters.
