6th Grade Language Arts - Update

Term 1 - Midterm

Dear Parents & Guardians,

The 6th Grade Language Arts students are off to a great start this school year! I am truly enjoying the opportunity to work with your children.

We are currently working on our first unit of study: Personal Growth. So far, students have written introduction letters about themselves, made predictions about how they will personally grow during 6th grade, learned a variety of literary terms, and completed a personal narrative. Students have also read a few fictional short stories and an excerpt from the book, Middle School: The Worst Years of My Life, by James Patterson.

Word Wizard (the independent word study program) has also been a great success! The students have been working diligently to complete Word Wizard homework assignments and prepare for Word Wizard quizzes. Keep up the great work!

In the upcoming weeks - students will learn about the different parts of informative writing (main idea & theme), discuss point of view, participate in literature circles, and much more.

As always, please feel free to contact me with any questions or concerns.

Thank you,

Mrs. Piazza
