Regional School Success Digest

'All things RSS' in a 'digestible' format - 09.04.2020

The purpose of our TST BOCES Regional School Success newsletter is to highlight upcoming professional development opportunities, support, resources, information, and more based on what is in demand and what is on our calendar!

Welcome to the 2020-2021 School Year!

The administration, staff and teachers were welcomed back virtually and in-person on the TST BOCES campus!

Dr. Matteson left us with these three inspiring words for this school year:

  • HOPE

Labor Day Weekend is here!

TST BOCES will be closed on Friday, September 4 and Monday, September 7 for the Labor Day weekend.

To start the holiday weekend, our staff wanted to share two quotes about the importance of work:

  • "Choose a job you love and you will never have to work a day in your life." - Confucius

  • "No work is insignificant. All labor that uplifts humanity has dignity and importance and should be undertaken with painstaking excellence." - Martin Luther King, Jr.

25 Brain Break Videos for the Classroom

Brain break videos for the classroom will be much needed this year. We’ve heard many teachers say that students will not be allowed to leave their classrooms throughout the day. Teachers will be rotating to them, recess is a big question mark, and all meals will be eaten at their desks. It's important to find small ways to allow students to reset, and have an opportunity to engage in new ways, even when they are staying in the same space. Here are a collection of brain break videos!

This is an online event.

This professional learning series will be a year-long, region-wide collaborative for K-6 principals, facilitated by instructional leaders from multiple BOCES. Participants may not be able to attend all sessions. We will keep track of attendance but invite you to join us for as many as you can. Grounded in the science of reading framework, this professional learning opportunity will provide information, direction and support for K-6 principals who are seeking a school-wide approach to lift the overall reading performance of their students.
