Message from Jeff and Yolanda
There was no better way to kick off the school year than with our motivational speaker Neila Connors sharing the message of "Motivating the Learner through M.A.G.I.C.". Thank you to all who shared how much you enjoyed her. In addition to providing us with plenty of laughter, she reminded us that not only do we all make a difference every day but most importantly how each one of one of us is in charge of our own "happiness backpack." Some of our take-aways included:
- You must have a vision to be effective
- Students do not care how much you know until they know how much you care
- To motivate learners, you need to create successful experiences, be involved and provide feedback and reflection time
- Prior planning prevents poor performance
And when the world seems to be crashing down on you, remember to:
- Try to see the solution in difficult situations
- Learn to take yourself lightly while taking your work seriously
- Develop your sense of joy and being alive
- Deal with change
We are fortunate to work with a wonderful group of professionals who are not just involved but are truly committed!
- Have a wonderful positive year
- Spin M.A.G.I.C.
- Use Post-It Note Therapy
- Begin and end everyday on a positive note
- Appreciate your life and celebrate
Have a fantastic week and a great year with students who join us on Wednesday. If any of you are interested in Neila's PowerPoint presentation, email Yolanda.

Our 2017-2018 Wellness Syllabus
Let’s put our wellness at the center of our personal goals this school year. Let’s be reminded of these wellness targets:
- Let’s drink more water. The LWTC/LWTHS drink tumblers can be refilled at water stations on both sides of campus.
- Let’s move more. Feel free to use the high school gym after 2:30 pm equipped with treadmills, step machines etc.
- Let’s eat more fruits and vegetables. The cafeteria will have a salad bar most days.
- Let’s take a break. Let’s move away from our desks at lunch -- take a walk outside or lunch with a friend.
- Let’s laugh more. Let have fun. Let’s connect with each other. Let’s support each other.
- Let’s have a great and healthful school year.
