Veterans Day Assembly
Lakeview Elementary will host our annual Veterans Day assembly on Friday, November 10, at 2 p.m. We want to provide our guests with some important information regarding our assembly.
We will be opening our doors to honored guests and their families at 1:30 p.m. This event will be held inside our school’s gym. All visitors will need to be screened through our Raptor System. We will be doing a pre registration check as we have for Fall Parties. Each visitor will need to complete the form. Here’s a link to our form. All forms should be completed no later than Friday, November 3.
Visitors can park in the front parking lot. We will open our playground parking lot if additional parking is needed. Staff members will be outside assisting our visitors with parking. We ask that you enter through our special area entrance doors on the west side of our building (between the library and the gym). Staff members will be checking in visitors at tables inside our special areas/commons area. All Veterans and their family members are invited to sit in our designated area within the section of blue folding chairs in the gym.
Students who have veteran guests attending the event will have an opportunity to visit and take pictures once the assembly concludes. Parents/guardians who wish to sign their child out early will need to do so through the office following the event. We look forward to honoring and celebrating our Veterans on this special day!

Gobble Grams: Spread the Kindness this Thanksgiving!
We are excited to announce we are selling Gobble Grams at LVE! A Gobble Gram is a note card that can be purchased and sent to others. Gobble Grams will be on sale for .25 cents on November 16, 17, and 20 in the morning from 8:45 - 9 a.m. in the commons area by the library. Students can stop by and purchase a Gobble Gram on their way to class. Gobble Grams are a fun way to spread kindness and cheer everywhere!
WSD Belonging/Culture Survey
As part of the WSD’s ongoing efforts to meet the goals within the Comprehensive School Improvement Plan (CSIP), surveys will be administered to students in grades K-12 and staff. The surveys are designed to solicit feedback about the sense of belonging created within each building as well as perspectives regarding building culture. Each school and department within the district will use this survey data to understand the current reality and to make improvements moving forward.
For more information regarding these surveys, please check out our WSD Belonging and Culture Survey page.
The Counseling Corner
During the month of November, students will be focusing on RESPONSIBILITY! We will explore why responsibility is important and different ways to show it each day. Learning happens best when it is continued at home and at school! Below are different ways your child can continue to learn about the importance of responsibility.
Read About It!
Here are some books to help your child learn more about responsibility:
I Just Forgot by Mercer Mayer
But It’s Not My Fault by Julia Cook
The Paperboy by Dav Pilkey
The Pigsty by Mark Teague
Practice It!
Help your child practice responsibility by giving them special jobs! Let your child pick a special chore each week that they can be responsible for. Let them carry groceries, wipe the counters, or feed a pet!
Talk About It!
Here are some discussion points to help you talk about responsibility with your child:
•What do you think responsibility means and why is it important?
•Tell me about a time when it was hard to be responsible.
•What is a way you would like to have more responsibility at home?
•What are your responsibilities in the classroom and in our community?

Wear It Wednesday
Wear it Wednesday!
Every Wednesday at Lakeview is a House Spirit Day, which we call WEAR IT WEDNESDAY! If your child wears a shirt reflecting their house color, they get one house point. We recognize not all families or students have official house shirts, and we want to recognize students who rock their house colors. As a reminder the colors are:
Altruismo - Black
Amistad - Red
Isibindi - Green
Reveur - Blue
If your child comes to school in a house shirt OR wearing a shirt of their color, they earn a point for their house.
