About the McKenzie Watershed

the McKenzie Watershed in Oregon and Canada generate an array of important ecosystem services, including water filtration and regulation, soil erosion control, aesthetic beauty, recreational opportunities, and habitat for wildlife.

McKenzie Watershed Council vs. The Issues

The McKenzie Watershed Council was formed in 1993 to help address and battle issues within the McKenzie watershed. Their mission is to foster better maintenance of McKenzie resources, prevent further resource degradation, and ensure sustainable watershed health, functions and uses. Other possible threats that they confront include industrial discharges, development on the river, septic systems, runoff of pesticides from agriculture and forest operations, and urban runoff during storms.
