Christopher Columbus
Columbus was an explorer that lived in the republic of Genoa. He participated in expeditions to Africa. He was born on October 1; 1451 and died on May 20; 1506. He was sponsored by Spain. One thing that most people don't know is that he had two sons. His biggest accomplishment was discovering the New Land.

Vasco da Gama
Vasco da Gama was responsible Portugal dominance in spice trade. His route was called Admiral of the Indian Seas. He was from and sponsored by Portugal. No one truly knows his birthday but his death was on December 23, 1524. He set up his own trade routes and posts which most people liked. Da Gama's father was originally chosen to do Vasco da Gama's job but died before it was possible.

Juan Ponce de Leon
Ponce de Leon was sponsored by the king and queen of Spain. He was born in 1474 and died during an indian battle in July; 1521. He became famous for finding and exploring Florida and trying to find the Fountain of Youth. An interesting fact about Ponce de Leon is that April; 8 is Ponce de Leon day.

Amerigo Vespucci
Vespucci was born on March 9; 1454. He died on February 22; 1512. He claimed that he found the Americas and claimed Brazil. Some interesting facts about Amerigo Vespucci is that the first person to make a map of the New World named the map and World after Vespucci. He was also Italian but said he was Spanish in 1505.
