Happy Friday!
Happy Friday, families! We have had such a fun, busy week and things are only getting busier as we begin winding down the school year! THANK YOU to all the families who came to our Open House Tuesday night. We hope you had a lovely time! We've also had our book fair open this week. We'll keep that open Monday as the last day to shop! Thanks for all your purchases. A portion of the sales go back to our library!
Next week, we will host our last Parent Partnership & Performance Night of the year! We are excited to watch this last group of students perform!
At the end of next week will be our Book Character Parade! I know your teachers have been sending home information to help prepare for this parade. It's always my favorite! I love to see the creativity in the costumes of the children as they dress like the characters of their favorite book. Feel free to join us to watch all the children walk the halls!
It looks like we have a beautiful weekend ahead! I plan to spend some time planting, painting, and relaxing with my family. I hope your able to spend some quality time with yours as well. Have a great weekend!

I Want to Hear From YOU!
Many of you have posted comments, suggestions or questions on my Parent Padlet. Thank you! It is one of the ways for me to stay connected with you and allows other parents to see your questions. You never know when someone else is wondering the same thing. The cool thing is that it is completely anonymous! So post away and I will be sure to respond.

https://padlet.com/ellisme/2tgpyt1d5twqBuses Only!
Please remember that the back loop of our school is for buses only!! When cars drive through, our buses cannot load or unload or move. It also creates a safety for students and staff that are back there. Keep all cars in the front and side loops only. Thank you so much!
The Counselor's Corner
Children who are adopted begin to understand adoption in the pre-school years. It’s helpful to read stories about adoption and to talk about it openly. It’s common for adopted children to have questions. The more you share with your child, the less shocking it will be for them to understand at an older age. Being open with your child will create a positive and healthy understanding about adoption.
In the book The Connected Child by Karyn Purvis, PhD, director of Texas Christian University's Institute of Child Development, in Fort Worth, the author explains important details to keep in mind when preparing for an adopted child:
· Due to lack of resources, it’s best to provide a calm space with subdued colors and patterns. Children who have been in homes that lack resources and materials may get overwhelmed or have sensory overload with bright colors and busy patterns
· It’s common for children who have experienced food insecurity to hide food. Allow to do so within reason.
· Affection will build a stronger bond
· Practice positive discipline to create trust and positive expectations
