On Wednesday, January 11th, Sward staff and students enjoyed a dress rehearsal performance by our very own Sward Drama Club. Under the guidance of Mrs. Collura, Mrs. Smith and Mrs.
On December 19, the Hometown PTA provided student with a very fun and interactive assembly called The Wheel of Wisdom. The show was about one hour and students were divded into grade levels. Grades 3, 4 and 5 saw the show first followed by our little Hornets in grades K 1, and 2.
As we begin the New Year almost everyone will make some type of New Year Resolution. Fifth grade got the oppurtunity to reflect on the year that has gone by and to also choose one word for their resolution. By choosing one word students will be able to use that word as their guide and inspiration for the New Year.
OLHMS staff and scholars were treated to a special PBIS Trimester Celebration before leaving for winter break! The PBIS Universal team put together an all-school celebration in the OLHMS gymnasium. Each Advisory chose two representatives to participate in a free-throw contest with one scholar shooting free-throws and the other scholar quickly rebounding the ball.
After a long and restful winter break, our boy basketball and girls volleyball teams are ready to take on their competition this year! For our OLHMS Boys Basketball program, Coach Fisher and Coach Dare are both returning and are ready for their first game against Simmons next Thursday, January 19th.
The first grade hall was alive with excitement the day before winter break because the students had their annual "Polar Express Day." The excitement began as students and teachers showed up to school in their pajamas. As students got ready for the day, they opened their desk to find a special surprise; it was a bell!
Where can you see Christmas trees from around the world, milk a cow, see the parts of a plane, and see weather statues all in one day?! The Museum of Science and Industry, of course! This is only naming a few of the amazing things Kolmar 3rd graders got to experience on their field trip in December.
Recently, the District 123 Board of Education was presented with an opportunity to hear about the tremendous work of the OLHMS Forestry and Gardening club. Their sponsor Ms. Deb Barry, community member Mr. Bob Uzudanis, and OLHMS students provided the Board of Education with information regarding a recent project at the school district's tree nursery located on the northwest corner of the OLHMS property.
