Next week is a big week for us as we show off our Pirate Pride during Homecoming Week! Encourage your child to dress up and participate in our Spirit Days if they’re able to. This is always a fun week for us, and we take a lot of pride in being PIRATES! Have a great weekend!
Homecoming 2018 Festivities: Sept 17-21
Platte County's Homecoming festivities run September 17-21. This year's theme is "Platte COUNTRY Homecoming." Make plans to attend the Victory Supper on Wednesday evening, the parade and community tailgate on Friday afternoon, and the football game on Friday night! Click here for more details.
Fri, Sept 21 - Early Dismissal at 11:50am
- Due to the homecoming parade, we will have an early release of 11:50am on Fri, Sept 21. There will be no lunch served on this day. However, we are taking sign-ups for anyone wanting to purchase a sack lunch to take home with them. These sack lunches will be charged to the student’s lunch account at their normal daily rate. Sign up sheets for those students interested are located on the whiteboard in the cafeteria. Deadline to sign up is Wednesday, Sept 19.
- We encourage PCMS students and staff to show their PIRATE PRIDE by participating in the Spirit Days shown above! #gopirates
Science Olympiad Meeting - Sept 20
Interested students and their parents are invited to attend the PCMS Science Olympiad kick-off meeting on Thurs, Sept 20 at 6pm in the PCMS Forum Room. Science Olympiad functions much like any team sport, but it focuses on STEM (science, technology, engineering, math) disciplines. It exposes students to challenging competition and a wide array of career choices. It requires active participation, self-initiative, commitment, teamwork and practice throughout the year. Each school-based team is allowed to bring up to 15 selected students who are cross-trained in a variety of events within their skill set to a regional competition, which entitles them to attend the state tournament. However, many school teams boast more than 40 members, allowing for a rich apprentice and mentoring system for all involved. State tournament winners go on to participate in the Science Olympiad National Tournament held at a different university each year. There is no direct cost to join. If your child is interested in this opportunity, please plan on attending our meeting on Sept 20.
Please watch this brief slideshow presentation for a little more information! Or stop by the PCMS Science Olympiad website.
