MESSAGE FROM DR. MATTHEWS
Novi Community School District has licensed the Frontline Health Portal to provide you with convenient, 24-hour online access to items in your child’s health record. Using a secure username and password, you can view district-designated health information, communicate with our health & wellness staff, review/sign forms, and even provide the district with new information from outside health services received by your child.
Note: Your student's health record is part of his/her educational record at the School District. The privacy of these records is protected by federal law per the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA) and state law. If you are aware that you should not have access to your student's educational record, do not register for access to the Health Portal.
SELF REGISTER
Self-registration can be completed via our Mobile or Desktop application. *Note, you do not need to register separately to gain access to both options.
For Mobile, please go to the Apple App Store or Android Apps on Google Play, search for Frontline Health Portal, and download the app.
As a Desktop user, please select the following link to access the registration portal:
https://www.healthofficeportal.com/SHM_Novi_Community_School_District/portal/Register.aspx
You will need to register as a family with your personal email that was provided to the school district during your student registration. (*If both parents/guardians provided their emails to the school district, you may use one of the emails to start one account or both emails to start more than one account.)
Complete the following steps to continue your registration:
- Use your email and re-type a Captcha (mix of letters and numbers intended to distinguish human from machine input) to take you to the next page where you will confirm the Portal Terms of Use. Once complete, you will be notified regarding the activation of your account.
- You will receive a verification email with a temporary password and a link to confirm your account. (Please check your email’s spam folder if you have not received the email in 10-15 minutes.)
- Reference the “Verify Health Office Portal Account” screen and follow the eSignature instructions. (Be sure to leave out any space(s) between /S/ and your name.) Click the checkbox beside “I agree” and select the “Verify” button to complete the email verification process.
- You will return to the Health Portal screen/login page and use the temporary password provided in the registration email to initiate the password creation process. The system will prompt you to change your password. Follow the instructions and remember to select the checkbox at the bottom of the screen. (A successful change will show “Your password has been successfully changed” (in green) under the password area.)
- Click on “Home” on the top menu bar. This selection will prompt you to register your first child to your account. You will need to provide the following information:
- Student Date of Birth
- Student School ID (as designated by the District)
- Primary contact email provided to the District
- To register additional children, remain on the “Home” tab, click on “Add Person,” and continue this step until all your children are registered.
Your new Frontline Health Portal is now active and ready for use!
Please use the Frontline Health Portal Mobile app or select the following website to log in to the Health Portal.

MATERIALS DROPPED OFF
Please make sure students have everything they need when they come to school (e.g. lunches, homework, glasses, water bottles, instruments, gym shoes, etc.) in the morning.
Once the school day begins, we cannot accept materials dropped-off at the door.
Although the District provides a limited number of mini water bottles, please ensure your child comes to school with proper hydration. Help us keep all students properly hydrated!
We are trying to encourage student responsibility.

NOVI EDUCATIONAL FOUNDATION (NEF)
NEF "NO GO" GREEN GALA - MARCH 19-21
The Novi Educational Foundation’s 2021 Green Gala will not take place. Instead, Executive Director Jason Smith and Committee Members Elisa Endress, Trina Klassa, and Sue Schroeder invite you to support the NEF’s first ever “No Go”Green Gala, March 19-21.
Purchase “Give-Its” (donated tickets), become a sponsor, and/or bid on auction items to further our mission of enriching the educational experience of each student by supporting opportunities that require financial resources beyond the district’s contribution.
Our auction items will be available to view early next week.
Proceeds will support students and teachers in the Novi Community School District by providing classroom grants, district-wide programs, and student scholarships. We have held our annual Green Gala for 13 years. Although we cannot assemble in person, we are keeping the tradition of our Green Gala alive because our teachers and students still require support. Teachers have ideas that need to turn into reality. Students deserve additional learning opportunities. And it is your support that makes these come to fruition. So even though we cannot hold the 2021 Green Gala as hoped, we will instead celebrate our first “No Go” Green Gala.
By supporting the Novi Educational Foundation and our “No Go” Green Gala, you are:
- Supporting the development of innovative new programming and educational opportunities
- Imagining the possibilities, Investing in our students, and Inspiring them to do more
- Bring the mission of the Novi Educational Foundation to new audiences
Please let me know if you have any questions. Thank you!

MISCELLANEOUS
ABSENT WORK
When students are absent, teachers will do their best to fill them in on the work they miss. Teachers utilize a variety of tools to keep students up to date on work (Schoology, Google Classroom, on-line planners, etc.). It is not feasible to have absent students Zoom into classes that are happening at school. In addition, teachers are not able to privately Zoom with students who are absent to reteach the lessons. A good time to get additional help is during
Academic 30. Teachers will provide the work that can be replicated to students upon their return. It is not always possible to recreate classroom discussion or activities.
STUDENT PICK-UP
PPE
- Students are required to wear a mask* while they are on the bus or in the school
- Students will be given short mask breaks when they are outside
- Hand sanitizer and wipes are available in each classroom
- Students will be reminded to wash hands frequently
ACCEPTABLE MASKS*
