COVID-19 Resource Nurse at Kaimukī High School
Aloha,
My name is Kenna Gardes and I am the new COVID-19 Resource Nurse at Kaimukī High School! This position has been created through the Hawaii Keiki Program, a partnership program between the DOE and the UH Manoa School of Nursing. I am available as an educator, consultant, health resource and clinician. I am here to support the entire KMR complex this school year but I also have a clinic in room E101 where I can assess students and provide education, basic treatment and medication (with consent) to Kaimukī students.
I am originally from Idaho, but I moved to Honolulu over 12 years ago to attend UH Manoa. I am a Registered Nurse and just completed my master's degree from UH in Advanced Population Health Nursing. I live in Palolo with my husband and enjoy gardening, cooking and playing soccer in my free time. I am so happy to be in the KMR complex and on the Kaimukī campus.
Resources
- Hawaii Keiki Hotline: The hotline is available for free to all DOE parents, staff and students. It is answered by one of our nurses who can help to answer any of your health related questions. There are also free telehealth appointments (video visit) available for DOE students with our Nurse Practitioners.
- Daily Wellness Check: If you are a HIDOE employee, contracted service provider, visitor or student, please make sure that you are completing a wellness check each morning before coming to school. If you have any of the symptoms listed on the flyer, please do not come to school and let your school know. For more questions about what symptoms require exclusion from school and the pathways to return to school, please email me at cntr.kgardes@k12.hi.us
