The Unreachable Goal
Even the girl in the magazine isn't the girl in the magazine
The Cause...
It seems every human has come across the perfect body on social media, in magazines, even on TV. The truth? The new makeup seems to be Photoshop, and filter after filter. Looking at these images of modified "beauty" has caused women, men, girl, boys, and teens everywhere to take a second look at their bodies.
The Effect...
Over one-half of teenage girls, and one in ten teenage boys have some type of eating disorder. Teens are trying to reach all the new trends - thigh gaps, sharp cheek bones, promenade ribs and backbones, without realizing the health risks. Instead of taking care of their bodies, these teens are binge-eating and purging, or skipping meals altogether.
The Solution...
Teens, even adults, need to understand that there are other ways to lose weight if it's truly desired. Eating 3 healthy meals a day is a great way to start. Your body needs proper nutrients to function. Exercising is another option. The point is, you are not defined by the number on the scale. It is important to be healthy, but it is not important to have a thigh gap, or ribs showing. You are beautiful, no matter what. You are human. You are you.
