ATTENDANCE & ABSENCES
To report a student's absence, please call the school or email LSEAttendance@carrollk12.org and copy your student's homeroom teacher.
In the email, please include your student's full name, grade, and homeroom teacher's name.
Robocalls for absences will occur unless an email or phone call has been received.
Please review the following bus rules with your student. This list is not exhaustive, but focuses on the current areas of concern:
1) Always remain seated while the bus is moving.
2) While seating, students should face forward and keep the aisle clear.
3) Students must keep their bodies and all objects inside of the bus, at all times.
4) Speak to your bus driver with respect and kindness.
Students who are unable to follow the established bus rules may earn a bus referral. Parents/Guardians will be notified when a referral is assigned. Continued misbehavior may result in a bus suspension.
Our bus drivers are a special group of people who have stepped up to ensure our students are safely transported to and from school. Together, we must support our bus drivers.
Morning car riders: Staff are available to help your student out of the car and will be happy to escort your student to the front door of the school, upon request and if available. Please avoid parking in the front lot and walking your student(s) across the bus loop. This is a busy intersection, and everyone's safety is our priority.
Afternoon car riders: Staff escort students from the gymnasium to those staff working outside. Students should be entering the car on the driver's side of the vehicle. Parents may not park in the car rider line to support getting your student into the car. If your child requires support getting into their seat or being buckled up, please pull into an available parking spot. Supporting your child while sitting in the car rider line significantly delays the process.
NO CARS may enter the bus loops during morning or afternoon arrival. All cars should be entering and exiting through the school entrance closest to Linton Road during the morning and afternoon. Please do not use the entrance/exit closest to the school playground and Century High School. See map below--thank you for keeping our school community safe!
Thanks to the support of students, staff, and families, Linton Springs' 3rd grade class was able to donate Econ Fair profits to Foster the Family. Foster the Family is an organization that “exits to support and encourage foster and adoptive families, mobilize and equip the community and church for foster care and adoption, and advocate for vulnerable children."
Be on the lookout for more exciting products and services at our next Econ Fair in spring of 2024!

Lost and Found
Help us, help you! Items that are labeled with your child's name will be returned directly to your child.
News from the Art Room
The art room is gearing up to get messy. Please send in a smock for your child. Any old shirt will work. If it is an adult shirt, please cut the sleeves or use a short sleeve shirt.
The first group that is to experience the fun of mess in the art room will be grades one and two starting next week with other grades following a few weeks after.
News from the Health Suite
Happy October! We are settling back into school and off to a great start. The health room has already had several visits from students. While it is nice to see your child, please make sure they understand when to see the nurse at school.
A good guideline is the 7 B’s:
- Breathing Bad
- Broken Bone
- Burning Up
- Bee Sting
- Big Bump
As a reminder, per CCPS policy and Maryland State regulations, I am unable to administer over the counter medications such as Tylenol, ibuprofen, Neosporin, Tums, or menthol cough drops without a doctor’s order. If your child has an injury that requires them to sit out of PE for more than 3 days, they will need a doctor’s note stating their restrictions and for how long. If your child has a fever or is vomiting, they can return to school after being fever free or no vomiting for 24 hours, without the use of fever reducing medication.
Thank you to all the parents who donated items for the health room. I really appreciate all the donations and it makes it easier to have items ready for the students when needed.
As always if you have any medical concerns or questions, please contact Nurse Twigg at 410-751-3280.
News from the media center
We are seeking volunteers in media:
Thursdays or Fridays – general shelving – any time that works for you!
Please email TallyMyers@carrollk12.org or send in a note with your student if you are interested. All volunteers must have completed volunteer training.
News from the Music Room
The music program at Linton Springs is in full swing! Students are hard at work preparing for the winter concert, learning new instruments, and exploring music concepts in class. The number of 4th grade students participating in chorus, band, and orchestra for the first time is amazing! Be on the lookout later this year for the recorder unit in grades 3-5 and the musical in grade 2!
“Project ACES- Active Children Excel in School”
Be a “Project ACES” Family!
September 25 – October 8, 2023
LSE is participating in the 24th annual “Project ACES” challenge, an award-winning physical activity program developed in Carroll County by the Heart Health Action Team and Carroll County Public Schools. All 22 public elementary schools and several private schools are taking part in this two-week challenge to increase physical activity and improve health.
Students will receive a white journal with a calendar for keeping track of 60 minutes of physical activity each day. This amount meets the national physical activity guidelines for youth. Students should still turn in their forms with whatever amount they completed to get credit for doing the challenge. Please encourage your child to mark the ACES journal each day with the type of activity and total active time. All types of physical activity count: at school, at home or recreational programs. Your child can count brisk walking, skating, bicycle riding, dancing, martial arts, Wii active games, sports, playing in the yard, or helping with yard work - anything active! Include Physical Education class and active recess. Small amounts can add up to 60 minutes.
At the completion of the 2-week challenge, sign the white Project ACES journal and return it to school. All students who complete the challenge will receive a certificate and a chance to win sports prizes, including Baltimore Ravens game tickets! Schools can earn money toward their physical education and health programs.
For more information or if you would like to donate a student prize to your school, contact your child’s health or physical education teacher.
Have fun and get moving!
Summer Reading Challenge
Congratulations to all of our summer reading stars! We had 157 students complete the summer reading challenge this summer! These students received at least 300 points for all of the reading they completed this summer. We had 65 students who read for 1,000 minutes!! We will be having a reading celebration day to award the students for their hard work.
USE OF STUDENT WORK ON WEBSITES OR IN PUBLICATIONS

It is assumed that parents and guardians consent to their child’s work being displayed on school websites, social media, or in publications unless such notification is received.
