Anti-War Movement

Peaceful Protest
A peaceful protester expresses his feelings about the war in Vietnam by placing a flower on the end of a soldiers gun, showing that he wants the war to end and to have peace.
War is Hell
This image depicts a soldier on the battlefield in Vietnam. Soldiers often wrote messages like these on their helmets in case they were to die on the battlefield. Most of these messages were Bible versus or things they wanted their families to be told if they did not return home, but this one in particular just shows us what war really is.
Make Love Not War
This was one of the most famous slogans in the protest of the Vietnam War. Hippies were all about love and peace, and this saying went along with what they were trying to do perfectly.
Acid not Bombs
Hippies were known for their intensive drug use. Acid was a popular drug used during this time period. "Dropping" acid is how you take it, so they came up with this slogan for their protests.
Peace is Cheaper
The war in Vietnam was a costly one. Vietnam is the longest war the U.S. has ever been apart of. Extended periods of time spent overseas just meant more money going out of the economy and going to help the fight in Vietnam.
Draft Dodgers
Draft Dodgers were people who found ways to avoid the draft illegally. No one supported the war, therefore no one wanted to fight. But if you were drafted, you had no choice. So you had to find a way to dodge the draft.
LBJ
Many people blamed the whole war on President Johnson. Even though he inherited the Vietnam war which Kennedy first got involved in, Johnson took almost all of the heat for it. Johnson was not re-elected to a second term.
War Will End You
People didn't think there was any chance of winning in Vietnam. They thought that the only thing being accomplished by being there is American troops being killed, hence this saying.
