Third & Fourth Grade
Happy Holidays!
Week of December 5-9
Religion
Mass this Thursday, December 8; is the Immaculate Conception which is a required Holy day of Obligation and we are so blessed to have a school mass on this special day. If you are able please join us. Mass is at 9:00 AM
Next week will be the 3rd Grade special 'Spanish' mass. All the readings and petitions will be in Spanish and the children have learned Spanish songs for mass also.
We continue reading the Bible - The Gospel according to Luke. This book most especially shares the story of the Nativity from the Announcement to Zechariah that he will have a son and name him John. He is the spouse of Elizabeth, Mary's cousin.
This is the same John who baptized Our Lord, Jesus.
Language Arts
4th Grade is reading a Magic Tree House book, #29 called Christmas in Camelot.
3rd Grade is reading Snow Treasure about children who are going to save their country's gold from the enemy.
I think both grades will enjoy their stories.
I will try and purchase a set of books called Twenty and Ten about orphans who try to save some children from the enemy. A game the children play is called 'Flight to Egypt'.
Social Studies
3rd Grade is continuing with their textbook and learning about how the economy works.
4th Grade is doing research on our state:Governor, Lt. Governor, State Senators, City mayor and some state symbols such as - flower, tree, song, bird, animal, etc.
If you have any information regarding our beautiful state please share with your child.
Math
Area - Perimeter..... which is which.
Well the area is easy with the formula. A=L x W
and Perimeter is just add all the sides.
This is one chapter we are working on. From here we will jump into Fractions. We may start a little bit but really focus on it when we return from vacation.
I cannot believe we have but one week left. May you have a joy-filled Christmas break.
