Principal's Message
Dear Parents,
Happy New Year! We begin 2019 with much excitement!! We all had a much needed break and are ready to tackle the new year.
This Spring semester is full of activities and events. Jan 18th will be our Glow Run Fundraiser. Kinder Roundup will be Jan 25th. We will hold our Bi-annual Awards Assembly on Jan 29th and 31st. Students will be recognized for academic achievement and attendance. A schedule of the assembly will be sent out by each grade level as we approach the date.
Additionally, our students will be busy this month with curricular challenges; as well as, taking district benchmark tests and preparing for STAAR.
Raba Ratters, let’s keep Learning Today to Lead Tomorrow.

Raba Glow Fun Run
Parents! This year’s main fundraiser is the Raba Glow Fun Run! It’s a two-week program that kicks off with a Pep Rally on 1/9/19. Families will then gather pledges for every lap your student runs (30-35 laps), and we’ll celebrate at the Fun Run on 1/18/19.
Our big goal is raising $30,000 for field trips, MobyMax subscription, 5th-grade promotion ceremony, Spelling Bee, Bike Rodeo trophies and other student events. We asked the Fun Run experts at Boosterthon to power our Fun Run and make it easier, more profitable, and more fun.

Students will receive activity logs to track their weekly physical activity throughout the program.
The 2019 University Health System Go! Kids Challenge™ powered by San Antonio Sports activity log will feature a variety of fitness activities for kids to choose from. Students are asked to complete five fitness activities each week for six weeks, eat their fruits and veggies and drink water. San Antonio Sports is excited to announce they have partnered with the San Antonio Zoo for the 2019 Go! Kids Challenge incentive. Each child who completes the challenge will receive two tickets to the San Antonio Zoo.
Incredible job Raba Rattlers! You raised $5,285 for the American Heart Association through the Kids Heart Challenge. Top fundraisers were Luke Kryszewski, $550, Brianna Biggs, $400 and Jackson Fuentes, $370. In addition, the Physical Education department earned $300 in US Games Gift Certificates to purchase equipment to help keep kids active and a $200 direct contribution to use in areas where it is needed the most. Thank you for staying active and eating healthy! Every single dollar you raised will help kids and families build healthier lives. I'm so proud of our school community for making such a big difference! Thank you for being a Heart Hero!

Students will also experience an amazing character theme, MINDSPARK MYSTERY LAB! Boosterthon’s most exciting theme yet combines S.T.E.A.M skills (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Math) with character-building. While they're teaming up with the MindSpark Kids to solve mysteries, our students will learn five 21st-century character traits that will help strengthen themselves and our world.
Donations will go toward fundraising item(s) and to the entire two-week experience. So please help our school by reaching out to sponsors. Also, all families are invited to come out and cheer on your student at the Fun Run! Thank you for your support!
So mark your calendars for S.T.R.E.A.M. night on February 12th from 5:45-7:15! Come and learn about different jobs and hobbies!
Additionally, we are looking for parent volunteers to share their careers and experiences with our students. Please let your child's teacher know if you would like to volunteer.

With the cold days here, please remember to bundle up your kiddos and make sure and not drop them off without parent supervision before 7:00 am. A parent must be present with the child if it is before 7:00 am.
Just a reminder the school day begins at 7:45 am. If they arrive after 7:45 am they are considered tardy. Attendance is taken at 9:00 am. The child must be present at this time or it is considered an absence. When your child is absent please make sure and send a parent or doctor's note into the office within 3 days of the absence. All tardies, absences and early outs will be recorded, reflected on the report card, and will affect your child's chance for perfect attendance.
