Bemidji Early Intervention: Year 3 of EQIP Innovation
Bemidji Early Intervention is in year three of the Evidence-Based Quality Intervention Practices (EQIP) innovation. We have a lot to celebrate in our program and feel like we are in a growth mindset this year. Our Part C staff completed the EQIP training and it expanded our knowledge and skills. A teaming agenda that is organized, detailed, family focused and team driven has been created and implemented. Two different brochures have been generated to share with families. The first brochure is given to a family at initial contact and explains our Early Intervention Program "What is Early Intervention". The second brochure is shared with families after the evaluation/assessment process as we are moving into home visits to explain "What a Visit Looks Like."

COVID-19 isn't the only thing spreading this year, as a team we have expanded our practice by offering a taste of professional development about EQIP and coaching to all Early Childhood Staff. Masks have done nothing to stop the reflective questioning that has been happening, both with families and within our program. Those who have not received EQIP training have taken notice and have started changing the types of questions they use with other staff and with families. As a staff member reported; "It is helpful in getting parents on board and processing through stuff."
We are looking forward to year four of our innovation and are excited and hopeful for the changes that are on the horizon!
