Dear Parents and Carers,

We are very rapidly approaching the end of the term. We have had classes hit very hard with sickness, and I would ask that if your child is showing symptoms of COVID or the Flu that they are kept at home to protect the other students in their class and our staff.

Next week on Thursday we will have a Ysafe Cyber Safety Talk for Yr 4-6 classes. We will also have Constable Care presenting to our PP-Yr 3 students on the same day.

Many thanks to Mrs Mitchell who has come up with the idea of the 'P&F Pitch' for our students. The P&F and the school will co-contribute $500 each for a total of $1000 and the Yr 6 students will be able use this money to develop an idea from discussion at student council meetings. The Yr 6 students will then source, cost and present the idea to the P&F for approval.

School reports will go live for families to access on Wednesday, 28 June. The current report format featured in this semester’s reports will change for the Term 4 reports. I will advise the new report format during Term 4.

We will have Mrs O’Brien and Mrs Ogg on long service leave for the last two weeks of this term. We wish them all the best and a restful break.

Please note that Term 2 will conclude on Friday, 30 June and students will resume Term 3 on Monday, 17 July. There is no pupil free day at the start of Term 3.

God bless and keep safe.

Cyber Safety Incursions for Pre-Primary to Year 6

In Week 9 on Thursday, 22 June all Pre-Primary to Year 6 classes will participate in Cyber Safety incursions, targeted to their developmental level.

Year 4-6 classes will be presented to by Ysafe and our PP – Year 3 students will hear from Constable Care.

Cyber safety education provides students with the knowledge and skills they need to stay safe in online environments. It involves acknowledging the benefits and opportunities offered by the online world, while understanding the risks and avoiding potential harms.

We look forward to being able to provide our students with this important experience.

NAIDOC Week

NAIDOC Week will be celebrated by the St Columba’s school community in Week 10. This will involve activities and tasks completed in class that build student understanding of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people’s culture and customs.

The Week will conclude with a NAIDOC Liturgy on the last day of school, Friday 30 June. We look forward to students deepening their understanding of the First Peoples of Australia as we celebrate the 2023 theme, “For Our Elders!” Students are encouraged to come to school in NAIDOC free dress colours. No donation is required.

Expression of Interest for Before School Y4-6 Dance Club - Term 3

Year 4-6 Parents,

This form is an expression of interest to see if we have enough student interest to start a dance club before school on Tuesdays from 8:00-8:30am in Kalyara (Undercover Space) for Term 3.

The goal for holding this dance group is to encourage fitness, strength, coordination, and confidence through dance movements.

Please fill in the form below only if this is something your child would be interested in.

Details are as follows:
Instructor: Miss Alice Komorowski
Time: 8:00-8:30am
Day: Tuesday mornings in Term 3 (commencing Week 2 and concluding Week 9)

All students are welcome and all abilities are catered for. The only prerequisite is a love of dance!

Please complete the below expression of interest by Friday, 16 June to allow us enough time to assess student interest and plan accordingly.

Please note this is not a registration but only an expression of interest at this stage.

The P&F Pitch

Introducing, The P&F Pitch! What is this you ask? This is our very own version of Shark Tank. We are giving the students an opportunity to pitch 2-3 ideas to the P&F (gathered from the entire school community). From there, we will decide what option we will grant funding towards. We can’t wait to trial this opportunity and see what wonderful ideas the children come up with. You will hear more on this over the upcoming weeks.

FRIEND-RAISER SAVE THE DATE - SAT 12 AUG 2023 (adults only)
